I have had said Swine Flu and it's been horrible, but no worse than any other flu I've ever had. Being Asthmatic I've had a flu jab for the last 5ish years but have always ended up getting some sort or different flu than that which I've been vaccinated against. Swine flu is just mild flu.

Except that the mortality rate is much higher in age groups what normally take it in their stride. This is bad cos a) it means that we can't focus just on the regular risk groups, and b) it has the potential to take out a small percentage of our workforce permanently, and a larger percentage short term.

It goes deeper down in the lungs than what normal flu strains do, or something. That's what makes people's lungs shut down.

In somewhat related news, we have some scottish pregnant lady with swine flu over here now, in a respirator. Apparently you lot have run out of places with the machines that oxygenate blood outside of the body, so they sent her here.

Over here in Engurland they're giving away Tamiflu to people that phone a hotline and tell them they have a warm head. If they phoned me I would send them a box of flu in return, bunch of pansies.

At least 134,503 people have been infected by swine flu virus across the globe, with 816 confirmed deaths, the World Health Organisation reported Monday.


Influenza spreads around the world in seasonal epidemics, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of thousands annually — millions in pandemic years. Three influenza pandemics occurred in the 20th century and killed tens of millions of people, with each of these pandemics being caused by the appearance of a new strain of the virus in humans.


So hundreds of thousands of people die annually from normal flu, and so far 816 people have died from swine flu.


I think I might just get the normal flu vaccine and not worry about swine flu.

do not get any vaccine! Normal flu vaccine does not work and it is dangerous to stop it when You start because Your immune system becomes weak!
