Sharing Entire Albums

Hi, not sure if someone has already posted an idea like this, or if there is already a solution, but I would like to see entire albums ripped, zipped and named with the artist and album title so that the whole album could be downloaded at once (with individual files, not one big mp3).

If this was done, would a search have to be done for the album under software?

well soulseek you can download enitre albums ripped by that person, all the same birate and good quality. no fakes. Some people use zip files, or rar. Another program is IRC, most albums are one big file on that using winar as a compression tool.

a torrent is a file that has content & download information inside. With this you can start bittorent and try to download that specific folder/file! (as long as someone else share that file!)

One question regarding the New Releases on mIRC: How, why and from who do the albums get released prior to their public release date?

How -----------&#62; Radio Stations/Reviewers get copies to write and tell reviews about them and then they are put out in .rar format on IRC...

why ------------&#62; Because record companies need to give them to reviewers so hopefully their product gets good reviews which will mean bigger sales...

from -----------&#62; They come from artist -> record company -> to radio station/magaizne article reviewers -> IRC -> Public...

But, who is leaking them onto mIRC? The Record Company? This is not how they deliver the albums to the reviewers and radio stations, is it?

I&#39;m just trying to understand who is responsible for the actual leak, beyond that of the album getting into the hands of the reviewers and radio stations.

I often wonder about this myself. Some record companies go to great lengths to keep the album from hitting the net and it&#39;s still available for downloading before the record drops. :blink:

But sometimes you get just normal guys who grab a couple of CDs who work at the shipping docks where they ship the albums out...and then those guys who work their get the CDs a couple of days before the release (retail rips) and then they rip them and put them out under ripping groups...thats why they always advertise for people who can get new releases early...Thats what i can gather...

sometimes retail workers buy a CD before a week before it&#39;s release and rip a retail version aswell ;) that all depends on how earily the store gets that "new release" in

but I like celery&#39;s method better, time for a job in shipping

What the others have suggested are all useful and you&#39;re best off using more than one network for your needs, but what you mention, when taken literally, sounds most like what you get with bittorrent. I&#39;d suggest hitting up http://suprnova.org/ or one of the other popular torrent sites.

Hey CC... just to give you some feedback on how the albums get to us before they are actually released....

I have a friend who does artwork for the major record companies and well as a major retail chain that sells cds which they also do the artwork for as well. His company is given a copy of the cd before it is released because he is either designing a billboard for the artist, or actually doing the artwork for the cd. These are promotional copies usually, sometimes they are just a regular release, but mostly promo. The promos sometimes have a different track listing than the actual retail release, but more times than not they are the same as the retail when it is released. I have received a few of these cds, and some of the newer ones cannot be ripped normally, because they are protected. So, I had to burn from cd to cd then rip from the burned one. It was a pain.

I have seen in the .nfo files where those kind of people are asked to help out with releasing their cds for ripping and distribution......must be nice.
