Well, they are stupid enuff to go thru with this "suing" process, so who knows what else they can do? well their lawyers do .. lol

Tell me, this article points out that the reason the sales were dissmal for that period was because of people downloading more music and buying less CD's.

So all i am saying is that is a natural human thing to fight back ( or in this case Harass ), harder, when you have been hurt more.

Sales in Austria, Finland and Russia rose while UK album sales posted gains and Hong Kong and Australia made a recovery.

Ahh you see, we Austrians are such nice ppl we could never stop buying CDs.

I have to agree with Mama Toto, seems to me like some people on here want to bring the music companies to their knees.............then what would we share?

Just because the record companies would go down doesn't mean music will cease to exist.

Thank you Gre 1, my point exactly........just imagine all the crap that would be churned out, we have enough of that at the moment with all this "Pop Idol" stuff.

boycotts working, when the losses hit 30 to 40% you'll start see major concessions from the Music industry

Plus keep in mind the sales drop could likely be fallout from the RIAA inquisition.

Me myself I listen to and love rap but yeah that's all we would have is crappy stuff released by people who make there on music probably with sound recorder

It appears that the countries being hit by the downturn, are the ones that are fighting the p2p agressively.

UK album sales are up.........which backs up the BPI's survey that says the p2p (if left alone) increases Album sales.

The USA have that "Boycott RIAA" thing going, and a lot of bad publicity...

Doubt that the RIAA will see any connection though......

This is good evidence at least that suing us isn't helping them :P

And the music industry will never totally die, even if we manage to completely destroy the RIAA somehow at least a few of the major labels will find some way to recover. Maybe not at the same profit levels, but they'll be there.

Even if NONE of the major labels survive, there's 100's if not 1,000's of minor labels that never had such onerous contracts with the artists that are doing good business with low overheads and are able to sell CDs at a fraction of the major label's costs yet still have a worthwhile profit.

Some artists are forming their own labels, joining smaller labels, or banding together to form small (or NOT-SO-SMALL) labels. Most of them are either p2p neutral or p2p friendly. They don't see us as the enemy, but rather RIAA which has been LOCKING THEM OFF THE RADIO for years.

Hence music is here to stay regardless. We don't need a Warner Brothers company to enjoy an artists music.

When the Cd sales drop low enough, the Recording Industry will go after the RIAA.. just boycott music purchases long enough for this to happen... that's all we are trying for... if the RIAA wins this battle, what's the next one they are going to go after???? Next thing you know they will go after people for playing music too loud.. saying something like, "the playing of music at a level louder than enough for one individual to hear is a copyright violation and you are now being sued for 500,000 dollars.."

Don't be stupid.... fight against the RIAA and don't let them win!!!!

LOL  :D It wouldn't be surprising if they did actually try and do that !!

all they are trying to do is blame the loss of CD sales to a scapegote... hence the blame on filesharing. someone needs to show them that FILESHARING IS NOT THE SOLE REASON.

at least they know that cutting the cost of CD will help,

13-20 bucks for a CD isnt worth it to me, I don't care what DVD or extra crap comes with it
