I will type every word fully just so you can understand, ok?

Why are people so critical about the way we (children) speak? It's easier to type like that, uses less energy. I think you have forgotten youth! When you young I bet people (elders) fought you where idiot!

I am 15, almost 16, not 13! Get yours facts right fool!

But since Eminem and 50Cent be keeping it real so do you

I type as anyone sending a text message would, you wouldn’t know about mobile phones as they are too technologically advanced for you! I don’t even like Eminem Or 50Cent!

What if my mum and dad bought me my pc, I bet yours bought you everything when you where young. I live in the UK we don’t have these so called 'Suburban little White Neighbourhoods'

And another thing, the word 'kid' means baby goat, I am a teenager not a baby goat! Just thought I’d enrich your rather poor vocabulary!

@Kunal,

Why are people so critical about the way we (children) speak? It's easier to type like that, uses less energy.
Well, it takes more energy to read it when it's not typed properly. If you won't make the effort to type it clearly then I won't read it. How about that? :P

Back on topic.

The best thing is to have backups of all the stuff you want to keep. Burn it to CD. Blank media is really inexpensive.

About that drive... Have you actually removed it from the computer to see if there might be a loose connection? Pehaps on the curcuit board itself, there could be unsoldered pins where the power connector joins.

The times are changing. Ever heard the famous movie quote "I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore" or was it "we"?

Anyway, it's time to watch yer back if you can't control your offensive attitude and actions. Us geriatrics are too numerous to ignore at the moment. ;)

Not often I agree with FC but I commend him on this campaign.

Oh and the sms thing... well I graduated from that some years ago. When I learned to type.. and tye my shoes.. And hack your asses from this primitive computer. I've actually changed the way a few major portals do business.
Being rude and arrogant on a cell phone isn't a good idea.. No it's not.

I think Lamsey encourages inline linking of those smilies. Why else would he have provided the bb code for easy pasting?
My page also permits inline linking as long as it doesn't get out of hand and I pay the bill.

Hmmm...shall I edit my post to your liking? I surely need acceptance from people I do not even know on the internet--especially on the k-lite web board, yeah.

Getting into flame wars on the internet...and winning...is kind of like winning the Special Olympics...even if you win...you are still retarted.

Your logic is not compelling. Find better things to do with your time; you might find yourself a productive contributor to your bretheren.

If you want to portray yourself as intelligent, probably a good start would be not to call people "retarted". Even if you had spelt it correctly, name calling is very poor, particularly when it is at the expense of the handicapped.

Also, your analogy doesn't even make sense.

Listen, anyone is allowed to use those smilies, I even encourage people to bookmark the page http://www.mcbriens.net/liam/smilies.htm if they want to use it regularly.

Obviously, I don't want people using them in sigs, but I have no objection to them being used in posts.

Regarding grammar: If you don't type in proper English, people won't take you seriously. Simple as that. You could write a revolutionary thesis on the impact of Shakespeare's work on modern society, but if you write it in shoddy or improper English then no-one will give you any credit. The same goes for online forums - you're just marking yourself as a kid (and if you look up a dictionary, you'll see that 'kid' is an accepted synonym for 'child') who can't be taken seriously.

It's also considered rude to respond to people with 'txt' language, becuase it implies you're not worth typing a proper answer.

This sounds to me like he has a 13 year old computer with a Maxtor hard disk that still works fine. That would make it circa 1990.
I'd be interested to know how big it is, (the HDD), and what he does with it!

I remember Maxtor drives back in 1990. I believe they had one about 500MB!
I also know I couldn't afford one. In fact I'm not sure the company I worked for could afford more than one.

Edit: I just remembered, I'm pretty sure they all SCSI connections too, and I don't think I could even afford the SCSI controller. Wouldn't have done me any good anyway, I didn't have a pc in those days.

Yeah, I remember those 20 and 40 meg drives. And even before that, the big and heavy 3 and 5 meg drives. The nightmare of setting them up with those controller cards.

Just think in comparison with today. We burn 700 megs to a CD that's 25¢ and we think nothing of it. :)

I agree that typing in abbreviated 'txt' language could be considered as lazy. But to discount someone’s point of view based on their spelling, diction and grammar, is intolerant and judgemental.

It's not necessarily that people are being intolerant and judgemental, it's simply that misspellings and poor grammar make reading and understanding a post that much more difficult, and as Lamsey says, if you are doing it deliberately it's just plain rude. It's not even a case of being lazy, as you yourself have shown, it isn't any harder to write properly, there's no post size limit (within reason).

I'm sure no-one here gets upset at the odd misspelt word, even the best make them now and again, but if the person knows their spelling and/or grammar is poor, it only takes a few seconds to run the post through a checker. Who knows, it may even help them improve. :P

If you think Kunal's Grammar is bad (wich i dont think is its just a little faster to type and i still know what he is saying) Take a look at the SHIT below. Its from a chingy review site.

Im sure Kunal would even agree that this is overboard.

Talk about butchering the english language hey ?

That would look so good on a resume ;).

OK i read somewhere that its easy to type like that with txt messages on mobiles but when you are at a PC you have a big ass keyboard type with.

Im no english teacher but I can honestly say that you can all read my typing and at least i have paragraphs.
