I am constantly getting different dll errors while running aol and can't seem to find a solution to why they happen. I have ran my virus scanner and nothing is detected

The errors I get:

KERNEL32.DLL
MSVCRT.DLL
AXMETASTREAM.DLL
MSHTML.DLL

and more other ones on occasion

If anyone knows how I can fix this problem, please let me know. thanks!!

is there a way to use AOL Explorer without having AOL as your ISP?

What do you mean AOL Explorer. The Browser that AOL uses (that is IE) or actually use AOL? You can connect to AOL via a TCP/ISP connection although I think that's changed. You can't use the AOL webbrowser without AOL of course.

Well, you've just said you don't like any of the popular browsers, so i don't really know what you're looking for. I use opera with all the crap turned off, it works just fine. It seems that AOL use IE anyway, so you're kinda stuffed.

Tell you what. I can get you a link for a 'xxxtoolbar' if you like.

IE2? There's an IE6 now so your way behind on updating it, lol. Anyways thanks for help guys. And to the person who said to re-install it, tried that a gazillion times with no luck, so that is not an option anymore.

It depends on what version of windows your using. If in doubt just drop copies in both the folders, it wont hurt anything. But just in case set a system restore point.

Like I said, use them both. Or better yet, copy them to \system first and run it and see if it works. If it doest work then delete the files that you copied and try it in the \system32 folder and run the program.

What aol version is it?

angelique

I have 9.0 and 8.0. I think 9.0 make the errors come up more.

I would bet that it has a lot to do with windows 98. 98 is very buggy.

Make sure you have all the updates and patches for your o.s. installed, or if you just feel that you have to have aol and dont want the errors then you may want to think about upgraded to at least 2000.

Just a thought ;)

Yeah I have a feeling that's it's buggy as well. Because I've been having alot of problems with it recently. I'm looking into to buying a new computer so I'll have it installed when I get my new one because I don't want to install a new Windows on this when I'm not gonna really use it anyways. I appreciate your help though.

I'm not using AOL, I have a so called "High Speed" (Earthlink High Speed)
The reason I don't like them is because of script errors.. (active X)
I cannot get a service patch.. WindowsUpdate.com doesn't work because of active X.. so I am screwed..
