I use FreeRip
Works great for placing in folders, tagging, and names files so well!
FreeRip @ Download.com (http://download.com.com/3000-2140-10215333.html?tag=lst-0-1)

I have been using CDEX for ages now and I have never had any trouble with it. Its very easy to use and works great and it is to freeware.

It's really not what you rip it with that matters so much...it's your encoder that's important.
EAC just rips in a super Secure mode that vitually guarantees no skips or other weird shit in your tracks.
What you can do is check, in whatever ripper you use, to see if there's an option to specify an external encoder.
Then you can just use the Lame executable.
goodluck ;)
