I woke up this morning to a full Hard drive warning on my second (storage) drive. So none at all, I am too lazy to move stuff.

Its not too expensive to get a nice 100 gig drive these days. If you got sum extra cash spare yourself the aggrivation of having to clean out your drive everyday and buy a new or second drive  :) :D :P

My hard drives filling. I used to have not even 10 gb on there. Now it's at almost 30 gb. Of course i had to do fall cleaning. Not bad for only haveing a 56k connection, and only had it for a year.

oh man that's a terrible setup

if i were you, i'd get a hdd slide box.

partition the 120 GB into 20 GB for system, 33GB for each (games movies stuff)

then the 80 GB as storage.

that's the logical use :D

but then it's up to you...

Doesnt that mean that you lost 4 GB on your first 80 GB drive
and also lost 8 GB on your second drive?

yeah, it does...hard drive manufacturers count one kilobyte as 1000 bytes, people who 'know' computers count one kilobyte as 1024 bytes
this causes you to 'lose' space...also you 'lose' some when you format

I'm on 576/288 ADSL and here are the specifications for my single HDD:

70.9 + 44.9 = 115.8 gigs

I just reformatted my 80gig drive and 9.1 gigs ate up on the first 2 days, inclusive of all the OS's and whatnot.

not much I can download on my shitty 256k adsl connection.

i meant formatting as in making a completely clean drive usable, rather than wiping a drive which has already been used...

You just loose space for the FAT (file allocation table), and thats just when you format your HD for the first time.

RedRival

no worries I get what you say.

meaning a factory new hdd has to be formatted once to be usable.

after that, once it's used, formatting does not affect disc space.

One 160 gig with 41.8 gigs free
One 160 gig completely empty. (blank NTFS)
One 80 gig with 66.1 gigs free
One 20 gig thats blank as of this moment

I usually pull the 20 gig when I want to transfer large files (movies, numerous CDs, lots of sofware) somewhere. It will be a while before I need to delete some stuff. :P

I consolidated all my media --software, movies, porn, etc-- onto one 160 gig and formatted the 80 gig for my operating systems. 65.2 gigs of movies on one drive, 2.06 for porn, 6.31 in computer games, 3.14 for PS1 games, around 5 gigs for operating systems, etc, etc.
