So I've been using The Pirate Bay for a few years to download all my movies and tv shows. It's been good to me, providing me with a lot of stuff for free. But then I found out about the possible sale a few weeks ago and I've been wondering what to do.

I've never really used anything else to download torrents. I have heard about some site called Demonoid, but it seems they are not online at the moment. So I started googling around a bit and see there are tons of sites. This discussion board seems to be a great place to find out info and I like it better than the random blog posts that don't allow any interaction, but just list a few sites or one guy's opinion.

Honestly I just want another good torrent website to use for my very simple needs. If the speeds are a bit better, I wouldn't mind that, since most torrents seem to max my upload but not my download.

I pretty much just download 720p movies and tv shows...and not that many to be honest, just the more popular stuff it seems. If someone can point me to a place where I could find that, I would appreciate it.

By the way I've read up on ratios and dht and security issues, so I don't think I'm a total noobie. I always seed well because I have a fast fiber connection, even though there are no real rules at the Bay.

So, even if the Bay stays up a while longer, after The Pirate Bay sinks, where should I go?

Demonoid?

Or if you're feeling adventurous, you could discover the wonderful world of private trackers.

I think Demonoid is the best alternative to TPB

I recommend sticking to half-public/public ones, you have no idea what you might be gettin yourself into when you join private trackers. Seriosuly, in a month you will be a bashed and tortured man here at FST because you traded or something. Some people make it out alive, some do not but in generally this is the before and after-looks of a trader at FST:

I wouldn't download anything from a 'half public' tracker that I didn't own and couldn't defend against a lawsuit.
Of course if the OP is outside the USA, go for it, otherwise public trackers are asking for trouble in most big countries.

If you were content with PB, and what it had to offer, than I'd suggest a sites like Zamunda, Torrentleech or RevTT. Three comparable sites in terms of content, and the speeds are all very decent.

Zamunda, you just need to wait for an open signup. There's a thread on this forum for that - keep checking, or use a tracker-checker tool, either way you should get in without waiting to long.

TL and RevTT - Ask in the invite request thread and I'm sure something will come up for you in short order.

Good luck :)

This is of some concern to me. Between my dad and I, we've gotten a number of notices. We just ignore them but I think something more secure would be relaxing.

In line with that and the suggestions here, I started to search these forums and google for private trackers. It seems there are hundreds. There are way too many actually. I mean, wow. I don't want to bother signing up at every single one because who knows what's on the inside, so I'm patiently looking for something a bit more solid. The reviews sticky is really helpful, but it is packed so it may take a while.

I like the Bay because I see tons of movies and tv shows in 720p posted there. I also like being a part of a big swarm, seeding a lot more than I download and watching my fiber line whiz along. I would love to have something like the Bay but secure and perhaps as pretty to look at as those private websites reviewed here.

There are a lot of HD oriented sites apparently, so I might try to find something like that open for signups or wait until I can be invited. I don't really download much else so maybe that's a way to go.

What HD only site or big 0day(?) site has a large amount of 720p material and lots of seeders and leechers?

Try btracs.com or opentrackers.net,check the open signup thread here. Along with the advice given above.

btracs.com is a good place to start, ilovetorrents and torrentzilla are currently open and they're not too bad to start with.

A genuine thread, wow.

Best off luck, TL and RevTT try those 2!

TorrentBytes.net is a very underrated 0-day site, similar to the likes of revtt but open signup most of the time (but make sure you actually click the links to read the rules etc rather than just ticking the boxes). Not sure how much HD stuff it has though if any as i don't tend to d/l it so filter it out of browse pages.

Zamunda.net is a good general tracker (click the uk flag in the left corner to get it in English), open signup quite regularly as someone said before.

ILT and Bitsoup might also be worth looking at also, usually open reasonably often.

you're not an icon, but an avatar though.

Surely they're not mutually exclusive; I reckon you can be an icon and an avatar at the same time.

You could try Glorybits.org (its starting up again but growing slowly)
It's plan is to have high def stuff plus SD tv shows.

There's also HD-torrents.org and maybe...chdbits.org (not too fond of the latter)

I've checked out a few of the open signup sites. There are a lot of trackers. A lot are not for me.

But I just stumbled on a real gem that I'm exploring now.

http://www.storethe.net

It looks great to me. I hope people start using it because it has a lot of stuff to download.

try to get into IPT, lots of nice stuff there.

And of course, like many already said, try demonoid, it's the closest thing to tpb

I downloaded a torrent from TPB just yesterday and the said torrent was actually tracked by openbittorrent.

Can't people be original when naming a tracker?

Hi,

I would recommend getting on a private tracker like tl, revtt, iptorrents but you must seed everything you download, or demonoid which is semi private. but if you want to use public try mininova but I'm sure when thepiratebay closes most of the torrents will die there. Anyways if you don't want to seed, I would way to pay for newsgroups like 15 a month for unlimited data on a few sites.
