Suicide is Painless: Theme from M*A*S*H (not sure who originally sung it)
Through early morning fog I see
visions of the things to be
the pains that are withheld for me
I realise and I can see...
[Refrain]:
That suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
[Refrain]
The game of life is hard to play
I'm gonna lose it anyway
The losing card I'll someday lay
so this is all I have to say.
[Refrain]
The sword of time will pierce our skins
It doesn't hurt when it begins
But as it works its way on in
The pain grows stronger, watch it grin, but...
[Refrain]
A brave man once requested me
to answer questions that are key
"is it to be or not to be"
and I replied "oh why ask me?"
'Cause suicide is painless
it brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
...and you can do the same thing if you choose.
Again doesn't physically make me cry but stirs up my emotions.
Edit: Johnny Mandel done the original.

It would be a long list for me...

Notable ones:

Waitin for a Superman
The Abandoned Hospital Ship
Sparklehorse:
The Hidden Track on 'It's A Wonderful Life'
"Tomorrow" from the movie Annie
Pink Floyd:
Wish You Were Here
Shine On You Crazy Diamond
Rusted Root - Beautiful People
Grandaddy:
So You'll Aim Toward The Sky
For The Dishwasher

Mercury Rev "The Dark Is Rising"
I remember reading all the posts left on the bbc website last year after the bodies of the 2 girls from Soham were found, with that song playing, it made me shed bucket-loads of tears.
Maybe it's a parent thing?
