Error Code 501/505 Windows Xp

can someone tell me how to correct the error code 501/505 in windows xp?
i cannot open the internet explorer. the cannot display page comes up and shows http 501 not implemented. i have3 tried to reinstal the explorer but tisnot happening. if some one knows hoe to correct this please let me know . if the fix is through the regedit please go step by step so i dont cripple my system.

You might need to formatt but you should scan for spyware, adware and virues before you formatt. Because I have heard of spyware doing something like you mentioned.
