View Full Version : How To Use K-dat

MUSLEMAN
10-06-2003, 09:49 AM
ok first we will start with deleting the no ip sources
1: open your klite tools and run k-dat
2: close klite (make sure you close klite, you can't make any changes to a dat file if klite is open)
3: once you have run k-dat you will see a window like the one below, it should load up your dat files from your "my shared folder" if not use refersh/load or use the browse tab to browse folders on your pc and choose a directory to load from. http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/b/smiley2k.gif
4: once you have loaded your dat file/s then pick to one you would like to check, do this by clicking on it.

http://www.geocities.com/fshaitoon/k-dat/kdatedit1.jpg
5: now your dat file has become high lighted, on the right side you will see the source window, with your first source in it, the info for that source is displayed under it in the source info box
http://www.geocities.com/fshaitoon/k-dat/kdatedit2.jpg

6: now very simply look at the source info box and any source that has no or zero in the field in front of the source ip and supernode ip delete them with the delete tab.http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/b/smiley2k.gif
7: next to the source window is the tab for the drop down menu, use that to browse all sources for your dat file one by one, yu choose them by just clicking on themand they will appear in your source window then just repeat step #6 for each one.http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/r/sgrin.gif
8: thats is boss you are done http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/r/sgrin.gif good luckhttp://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/b/smiley2k.gif

Thanks for the reply MM, but based on the Tips, I already do that with KDat.

Actually if I am not downloading anything at a given time I go in KDat and use the delete not stored sources all the time. That is where I get the source IP of 192.168. I have been searching for Tina Arena vids and a user (INFOTECH) has a static IP of 192.168.0.... I forgot the last node. As I said, I could download with a dial up and lost it when I went to static IP, and I am beginnning to think it's because I am behind a router now. Thanks for the comments.

Oh and actually, I think you guys should get paid by having a setting to grant you priority in downloading. It would be better than occasional Paypals.

the speed could change because we don't know why its low, is it the band setting? is it because the source has alot of uploads, etc. so i would say no but its your world boss do with is as you wish good luck http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/w/thumbs.gif

assuming that someone has had the brainchild of having the "no ip" field in the .dat automatically deleted as an option in a future k++ type extension? no?

sorry to be redundant.

start a new download and when you got bunch of sources in it, then just merge this dat file with the new one just hold shift+left click of both files then put the curser over the highlighted are and right click and choose merge

if you merge them one of your files is going to have sources from both files,

so if both files had different sources yes, but if they both had the same sources you would just have 2 of the same sources

p.s

it seems to sometimes be helpful to use k-dat to delete a majority of the sources staying with just a few perhaps the ones with higher downloading speed.
In the following case: a file that has been sitting around for while and has the max number of sources in memory or close to it( esp. if you allow saving local ips in dat files- i think). sometimes these sources have already deleted the requested file and are just sitting there stacked up, you can see the amount through k-dat.
Deleting them allows you get new fresh sources for the file by the find more sources option of sometimes find more from the same title/filename. (add new source?- like i said dont know yet)

Hope at least some of this is right and helpful.

Appreciat comments MUSLEMAN

Peace.

MUSLEMAN

well if you have sources that you know are stale and not any help then deleting them would be good thing ofcourse.

the add sources comes into play only if you have a source that klite has not found like a friend or something, otherwise you can just merge the 2 dat files to become one dat file with combine sources of both

if you have a source that is outside of klite and need to know how to add it let me know i will tell you, however i find that most times that is not the case, and that merging dat files normally does the trick because the new sources people have found are in klite

hi musleman thanks for great kdat tutorial.can you explain what kdat means when you use "delete not stored sources",because those sources do not have blank or zero in their source node or supernode columns.also i have never seen any blank or zero entries in these two columns,am i just lucky or have i got hold of the wrong end of this stick? i run kazaa lite k++ version 2.4.3 with kdat 1.2.5
