just turn off the messenger service in "services"

EDIT: get this file BVsProDescriptions or the URL is blackviper.com <--i think, add it to the registry and when you go to services it gives you a better description of what the services do and if you really need them running or not (just make sure you get the file for your vertion of the os)

You can get XPLite and just get rid of the messanger all together, PM me if you want it.

either start menu or control panel then ---&#62;Administrative Tools then ---&#62; services

I didn&#39;t click on the OK button so I don&#39;t know what they wanted.

The point is I&#39;ve already delete messenger with Xplite, I&#39;m using trillian.

And normaly I shouldn&#39;t have any problem of intrusion, ad, or popup using Norton personal firewall. Do I ?

the messenger service that pops those adds ect up have nothing to do with MSN Messenger......

if your computer is running good and there is no major security risk just discovered i would not use windows update as you do not know what files you are getting and what they do as these updates can screw with setting on your comp
