Product Details:

Designed for Years of Performance

The Obsidian Series 800D is built to last through years of motherboard, power, memory, cooling, and component upgrades.

The steel structure has a matte black coating both inside out and is finished with a brushed aluminum faceplate for a professional look that’s both serious and awe-inspiring. A windowed side panel makes it easy to show off your work. Three Isolated Cooling Zones

The power supply compartment, main compartment and the SATA bays each have dedicated cooling subsystems to prevent heat buildup.

A dust-filtered 140mm fan draws in cold air at the bottom of the chassis and exhausts it at the rear and top. This clever design forces fresh air directly over the graphics card and CPU. The SATA hot-swap bays are cooled by a separate 140mm fan which vents from the chassis via a sealed chamber and prevents the heat generated by the drives from entering the main compartment. The power supply compartment has its own dedicated intake and exhaust, also isolated from the main compartment.

Need even more cooling performance? The Obsidian Series 800D has pre-drilled support for top-mounted single, dual, and triple radiators, or up to three additional 120mm fans. Advanced Features for Extreme Flexibility

A four-drive SATA hot-swap drive bay sits in the front of the case, making it easier to install or swap hard drives on the fly. A unique cable routing system virtually eliminates cable clutter that can impede airflow. The tool-free design allows for easy entry, easy access, and quick installation of 5.25” drives.

Features:

Four easily accessed hot-swap drive bays
Removable CPU backplate panel for easy heatsink installation
Isolated cooling zones prevent heat buildup
Unique cable routing holes guarantee a clean and clutter-free installation
Three fans included, with the ability to add four more 120mm fans
Tool-free optical drive installation makes building a system faster than ever
Two year warranty with Corsair’s world-class customer service and technical support

It's about $300 more or less. Sure the TJ-07 I have is cool. I will stick with it for a while but as I said I feel the need to own this one as well. I love the sata hot swap bay. I also love the removable CPU area cutout. I know I have been plagued by changing my CPU cooler and having to take the Mobo out a few times. Also the cable routing holes are a great idea.

It looks good but I prefer the HAF932, mainly because I already got one.
I must admit $300 and no power supply Is a little steep just for a case.

Time to go steal some wallets downtown.

^ Ditto. :ermm:

$300 and no power supply? How does that fit into any reasonable budget?

Hot swap drive bays are hardly a new thing either.

It's a handsome enough case.
I'm kinda partial to this one though...

Not sure.
I've read estimates as high as $700 but haven't seen any actual retail sites that have it...not that I've looked too hard.

I thought it was neat because it's a pretty significant break from traditional design, yet it appears pretty practical.
I appreciate the Corsair design but it's really just a nicely executed standard box.
I've been painting my case interiors black and cutting holes all over them for years, so I'm not impressed by Corsair's ability to do the same.

does it have a good cooling systems, clocker?...I mean it must be hard for air to circulate with a case like that.

Dunno.

At the very least it's obvious that there's no cross-contamination, so heat can be dealt with specifically, as necessary.

I'm normally fairly biased against Thermaltake products and most pics I've seen are not actual production units, so it's possible they'll screw it up before it hits market...we'll see.

I wish I could spare the cash for something similar. My current enclosure is on it's last leg. It's around 4 years old. To bad, with me being school I can't spare it.

Well of course YOU wouldn't be impressed Clock :P I still think it's a cool case. I do love that Thermaltake one though. A quick google has found some more pics. Yeah I want that one too.

After watching the video I may even try and build a custom case similar to this one. I'll be off from work in a week or so and I could make some time.

Any ideas what one could use for something similar to those HDD cage covers?

No really, i think I'm going to go for a "from scratch, custom case-wish me luck. I may even cannibalize my tj07 :O JK Clocker i know it would kill you.

Skizo, who said anything about reasonably priced? If you wanna play...

It is a very cool case but at the end of the day it's just a nicer box than most.
Were I to get excited about hardware again- a long shot at this point- it'd take something fairly radical to pique my interest.
At least the Level 10 thinks "out of the box"- horrible pun completely intended.

Of course, it may end up being a total POS, who knows?

There you go, build from scratch.

BTW, my TJ07 has been sitting on a shelf, gutted and covered in dust for well over a year.
Been using the old TJ06 and it's worked out quite well.

Progress has no sentiment.

The obsidian (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUwjXvXJPg0) is nifty, I've checked out some vids and stuff, and it seems really easy to get a great airflow through it. Kinda like a Raven (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1Xgjvf0SDc) or something.

If you like the look you may wanna check out an NXZT Beta (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjMJD12zzn8) as well, for the cheapness. It too has a black interior and a similar setup for running cables. Costs like half a third of what an Obsidian does, at most. Not saying it looks exactly the same, but it has similarities.

Not sure.

They (Level 10s (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9HGfGicpFk)) cost about $1000 here, our taxes are a lot higher, though.

I checked one out yesterday (online shop, not in stock yet, but looked at a vid). Aren't they limited edition and stuff?

ATM I don't have much time to take on a project like building one, but maybe after the holidays. $1000 is even too much for me to consider, I don't care how cool it is. In the coming days I am going to revamp my WC rig as the wife has snapped off my DVD drive tray by "accident". So for me to remove the drive I have to take out my res and move some stuff around. Not to mention I have seen temps steadily rising and I have no idea why. Meh I'll add to my old thread when I get around to it.

I saw somewhere the pricing in the US is expected to land at about $700 (what clocker said), so it's not quite that bad for you. Still a bit high, though.

You poor boy...you've had more trouble with watercooling in one year than I've had in seven.

LOL, I know man it's like I can't catch a break. I have no real time to investigate the problem either. I'm home sick from work today but I feel like crap so I'm not about to carry this beast down to the basement and start poking around.
