View Full Version : Board Clock Incorrect

Is it just me, or do other people see the clock an hour ahead of the correct time.
I know it's a small point, and for the time being I could correct it in my profile settings, but things will go wrong again when Daylight Saving ends and I won't be able to correct it by another hour.

You may adjust the base time zone (http://www.klboard.ath.cx/index.php?act=UserCP&CODE=04)

Works for Me

Yes, I said I could do that in my original post, but when the clocks go back next month I won't be able to take another hour off so the clock will be wrong again.

This suggests that either the system clock is out by an hour, or that the board software doesn't know that Daylight Savings is in operation in its TZ. Could even be that the software or the server is set up for the wrong TZ.

VB

You don't need to take another hour off because the server also does this. So you never have to change something there .. just set your Timezone and everything should be fine.

I just noticed that the board clock seems to be set approx. 5 mins too quick.
My current settings are GMT with daylight savings unset.

Anyone else having this problem?

Yup. But does it really matter?

I'm GMT +9:30 and the board clock is 1 hour fast for me.
But who cares? Time is an abstract concept anyway.

You probably need to tick or untick the 'daylight savings time' checkbox.

Tried that already :D
Ticking the daylight savings box makes the board 2 hours fast.
So when daylight saving starts, I'll leave the box unticked and the clock will be right for the next 6 months. ;)

No not really, just checking it was the board and not me as this problem has been mentioned before.

Just tried that... but there's no timezone in the list that gives GMT +8:30

No big deal anyway

TheMusicMan

Hmm sounds odd.

Ok I try to explain how it works. The server time is GMT (same as UK time) meaning that you should simply go to this page (http://www.klboard.ath.cx/index.php?act=UserCP&CODE=04) which looks like

http://www.the-lounge.us/gmt+1.gif

and select your timezone. If you you live in germany select GMT +1, if you have Central Time (US / CA) then select GMT - 6 etc etc

That should work corryctly. Remember to uncheck the "Is daylight savings time in effect?" box since the server changes the time if there are time changes in effect.

I'd already done pretty much exactly what you posted above, Darker.

I've tried checking and unchecking the daylight savings box.. as you'd expect, checking it makes the clock 2 hours fast, as daylight savings hasn't started yet.

I'm guessing it's a bug with the Invision Board software... not the fault of the admins here.

No big deal though, it's so freakin' inconsequential...

Edit: typo

Im not sure if this applies to all of the k lite members but it seems that for me the board clock is 1 hour fast due to daylight saving time. Will the clock be changed or not?

An easy way to remember which way to turn your clocks:

Spring Forward (forward 1 hr)
Fall Back (back 1 hr)

Another Aussie, eh? G'day.

The 1 hour out time bug only seems to affect members in Australia. Darker, Paul and (I assume) VB are aware of it.

Further reading here:

My ad-hoc remedy:
Uncheck the daylight savings box in your board settings options, and the board clock should be okay until the clocks go back again next autumn... hopefully by then Invision would have fixed the bug. :)

This whole clock incorrectness...
It don't really matter but if it ain't too much trouble we might as well get it fixed cause it can be useful to know when someone posted etc.

I'm GMT and its + 1hour 3 mins out. If I set it to DST then it becomes two hours too fast.

If it could get fixed next backup then that would be cool but if not it don't really matter :)

I'm in the UK and if I pick GMT then it's an hour out, ticking "daylight savings time" puts it 2 hours out.

I've set it to GMT+1 and it's correct - all but the 3 minutes anyway.

I've had to tell it that I live in the Azores or the Cape Verde Islands to get the clock right. I expected this to make it nice and warm, but instead it's still cold and rainy, can someone fix this please.
