i tried axxessing rhe windows update site to get the latest updates, but i received a message saying

"Thank you for your interest in Windows Update
Windows Update is the Online extension of Windows that helps you get the most out of your computer.
You must be running a Microsoft Windows operating system in order to use Windows Update."

I am not sure if i made any changes accidentally but it is kinda strange that this just popped up on my screen.

i'm running win xp pro

Have you had difficulty in the past getting to the site?

AFAIK, if they detect anything dodgy with your OS you get referred to the MS Antipiracy Group, you don't get a message such as yours.

Have you tried more than once?

Perhaps they were just busy or something.
I just dropped in and everything seemed fine on their end.

Do you get as far as "scanning for updates" before the message appears, or are you cut off before?

the message is the first screen to pop up soon as i try to access win update

have u used windows update with XP Pro that youve got now?....and is your key blacklisted....

been using pro since it came out, but i am not sure if it is blacklisted

So before today you were able to access windows update with that xp pro that your using?

yeah, but the thing is i have not being able to get sp1 so now i am thinking if it has ne thing to do with it.

What do you mean " you haven't been able" to get SP1?
When I asked if you had been to the site before, what I meant is - have you DLed updates from the site before.

oh my bad clocker, i have been able to get updates before today but i haven't tried getting any updates since last week - so i decided to give it a try to see what is available. But i have tried to download SP 1 in the past but it just gave me an error message. i have formated my hard drive a few times and was able to update everything except for SP 1 (did not know how to do that at that time)

Pm me when u find a working key and i'll show u an easy way to change your key.....Thats why u cant get service pack 1...lol...youve got a blacklisted key...and how many years you had that?..wonder how many viruses or trojans u got at the moment
