short and sweet question...is it possible to get a list of files present on a website if the files aren't shown in the source of the page?

no it is not possible to tell what is on the server without a link to it somewhere.

that tool will only download the part of the site that has html links, if you wanna download a site that is in php say then it would be a waste of time.

Incorrect my friend, all php is converted to html by default and it works very well.

You won't be able to log into a stored web page of course unless you build a local user database but it can be done.

didn't work, i spoke too soon...:(

i suppose more details are needed...

with my isp, i have 50MB of webspace, i'm currently using the space just as an image host
if you go to the main page of the site, you'll only see two links (one of which is inactive), however, i have uploaded many more than 2 pictures to the site
i have not shown the new pictures in the source of the page, they appear "invisible" to browsers

is there a way a user can find out a full file list of all the files i have on my site?

Modify the url to the directory structure. In most cases it will appear as an ftp index.

If the URL is http://member.ISP.com/name/image.ext change that to http://member.ISP.com/name/ and it should bring up a directory. If not, try it with ftp://member.isp.com/name

these don't work due to the naming system of my isp

i can get into my space to view files using ftp, however, you need a login, so i'll just consider my content 'safe' from prying eyes...

OK so create a local site with directory and upload that?

A folder with all images and files is all you need. Install a program called dirlist and open the directory and it will create an index.htm with automatic hyperlinks.
Then upload all that and provide the index.html URL to anyone you want to give access to.

Sorry, I coldn't find a URL for DirList, only the .vbs scripts. It shouldn't be too hard to create something similar with the windows dirlist command and front page.

Don't you have an alternate ftp://publish...... and ftp://members..... URL? The latter should allow annonymous read only browsing
