Where do the controlers plug in?
http://pcweb.mycom.co.jp/news/2003/10/07/20gl.jpg

Oh wait they plug in the back dont they? That is the stupids thing ever, I guess if you ahve it standing up that is ok, but if it laying flat the cords will have to go all the way around. That would not then make it to my couch.

Edit: yes they do go in the back, very stupid indeed.

The PS2 is a video game console. The PSX is a home entertainment system. B)
PSX plays PS1 and PS2 games, same graphics and everything. But the PSX has a 120gig HD, TV tuner, and more stuff. From what I've heard, it can record from TV onto the HD, or a blank DVD-R. It's basically a video game console, DVD player, VCR, and DVD burner all-in-one. B)

does the PS2 have a DVI output? 'cause the PSX appears to be using one to connect to the flat panel TV, in those pics. just thinking that might also be one of the PSX's upgrades over PS2...

(or is that a VGA output... kinda hard to tell from the picture...)

From the front of my playstation to my couch it is 5 feet six inches. A playstation controller cord is six feet five inches. What do you figure the depth of this console is? I am gonna ball park it at about a foot. Give or take a few. Making the distance from my playstation to the very front edge of my couch 6 feet six inches (the distance from current PS to couch plus 1 foot for this distance over, under or around this thing)

Total distance from plug to couch = 6 feet and 6 inches
subtract total lenget of playstation cord 6 feet and 5 inches.

For you whom is so slow, that = -1 inch. Meaning that in order to play on this thing I would have to lean forward from the front of my couch atleast one inch at all times. I could not sit back, I could not even move off the corner of my couch. Therefore that is stupid. Get it, or do i need to simplify this for you somemore. To close I would like to say something that I have never said here to this day.

SHUT THE FUCK UP NOOB.

The point of my first post was that it was a problem. It should not be up to a consumer regardless of how easy a fixable one to have to fix it. It is an oversight that I had pointed out about the system design. This fella then decided to argue the fact that requires the length of the cord to be longer. Disproving that the point of the post that you quoted from me.

Aswell when cleaning Up I would want to disconnect those cords from the box, aswell as when I want to use my playstion controller on my PC. Then requiring me to reach in behind the damn thing to plug them back in. Given my set up that is not all that easy. There is many reasons why the controllers plugging in to the back is stupid but that was not the point.

I would never buy this nor any other console to begin with, it was just an observation on my part.

so...

... you just enjoy complaining about easily fixable problems that aren't your easily fixable problems? unique hobby, i guess... ;)

edit: oh, and then there's this. a bit more expensive than an extension cord, but it's a much more elegant solution. http://www.madcatz.com/MadCatz/product_det...product_id=8256 (http://www.madcatz.com/MadCatz/product_details.jsp?product_id=8256)

oh yeah... i see what you're talking about, now. when it's lying flat, the cords are plugged into the back... but when it's standing on end, they're plugged into the bottom. it's simply a matter of which way you choose to position it.

However now that I think about that it does not work either. If you have it standing on its end, the controlers have to plug into the end that is laying down. does your TV tower have a hole in the bottom for all the cords to come out of. I think that the majority of peoples does not. In order for it to work standing on its end it would have to be mounted onto something.

You two can continue saying whatever you want. Having the cords plug into the back/bottom does not make any sense.

it's even bigger than the Xbox, and it'll probably be expensive; at least $400. :(
no it not. its smaller then the X-Box but more features. its not just a game console anymore its basically the whole entertainment center it has a TiVo a DVD Player it can play Audio it can play PS1 and Ps2 games. add up each one of those features. also the most a standard Tivo comes with is 80 gig HDD while this will have a 160 gig HDD. the DVD player in this thing isn't crappy like the Ps2 or X-Box either.also instead of having to buy a Network adapter to play online it comes with builtin LAN connector and the online play is still free like the Ps2.

every time a new gadget comes out that does something similar to what a PC can do, some newbie has to pop up and go "it's just a computer, PC is better." PC would be better if it just did those things without lagging, crashing, catching viruses, giving you all sorts of errors and incompatibilities, having to share resources with other programs, or having to run on top of WINDOWS.

designing a machine to do a limited set of very specific tasks gives it a chance to excel at those tasks.

sony's stance is that PSX's main purpose is not as a game console. firstly it's a PVR, secondly it has a PS2 built into it. it's a multi-purpose entertainment appliance, not a console. according to sony's marketing people, anyway.

i didn't criticize Microsoft. i just said that a lot of home electronics perform their tasks better than a PC because they use firmware/software designed for specific applications, rather than having a whole desktop OS running just to capture an MPEG or play a game.

i wouldn't have anything without Microsoft? you should quit exaggerating. HL, CS, and MoHAA run just fine on openGL, which doesn't depend on Microsoft. game consoles have gotten along just fine without Microsoft-- precisely two consoles (Dreamcast & Xbox) have run on the Windows kernel, compared to dozens that haven't. MPEG and all of its variations (VCD, DVD, DIVX, MP3) are completely independent of Microsoft.

i actually like Windows XP a lot. i like Mac OSX too. Windows and MacOS are both great desktop PC systems, but they're slow and bloated compared to the firmware that's streamlined to perform simple functions in other home electronics. a TiVo can capture high quality video with a 75mhz CPU and 16mb RAM, because it's designed specifically for that one task-- try doing the same with Windows on a 75mhz CPU... it's impossible.

The PS2 is actually classed as a computer, not a console! The only reason that the PS2 was sold with a copy Yabasic included was so that is would be classified as a computer (game designing software you see). Thus Sony could dodge the higher rate console export fee and could ship them abroad a hell of a lot cheaper.

Gooch2k's pointless fact #1 of quite probably millions :P.
