View Full Version : Anyone Get Norton Internet Security 2004 Working?

-E-
10-08-2003, 07:54 AM
I tried installing NIS 2004 a couple days back and it registered fine but would not connect to Live Update or for that matter run for more then a few minutes. It would just close itself in the systray.

Anyone have better luck with it? Its the only proggie I love to use that gives me problems...

Any feedback welcomed...

Norton 2004 is a resource hog. Norton Corporate 8.1 is the best, PM me if you want to download it.

Thanks but I'm running Corp at the moment. Wondering if anyone got Norton Internet Security 2004 working yet.

I ran into probs with it but read somewhere that the Live Update service for Norton was down. Want to know if anyone got it working....

Maybe we should make a list of all the NIS downloads we have tried so far. The fake ones. That way we could avoid wasting time.

You say "that worked" ?

What exactly worked ? Was it Internet Security 2004 ?

If so please post what the exact filename and filesize.

-E-
10-08-2003, 08:00 PM
The keygen I used said it worked also...but the program itself did not work.

I version I speak of I got from SuprNova...

Norton Corporate is a antivirus proggie. It uses very few resources to run and does not need a serial number. It does have fewer options then NAV 2004 however.

Mavol

yes norton internet security 2004 from suprnova, theres a folder with crack in it and a keygen but it doesnt work, there are instructions in a txt file with a serial which did work.
so cant help you on filesize and name.

but the registration wizard didnt show when i restarted my comp and so internet security just exits if i go with my mouse above the icons in the system tray. anyone know whats wrong?

That appears to be what I installed. At least, the symptoms of the errors are the same.

Ok, maybe we could simplify this thread. If you are talking about AntiVirus 2004 or the Corporate version please don't. This thread is about Norton Internet Security 2004. There are plenty of other threads about the other stuff.

Now, Mavol, I have encountered the same problem as you. I have a version of Internet Security 2004 that installs fine with serial included. But after restart the icons in the taskbar are there but they don't work when clicked on. Also the icons disappear after about 5 minutes. Very strange.

The one I found was: Norton.Internet.Security.2004.iso with a filesize of 230,722 KB

so cant help you on filesize and name
@Mavol. You have the file don't you? How can you have the file and not be able the tell us what it's name is or it's filesize?

-E-
10-08-2003, 09:17 PM
VB, I have the same prob. When did you last try an install?

Size of mine: 236,259 KB

Virtualbody1234
10-08-2003, 09:26 PM
Yes, 225MB or 236,259,328 bytes in file properties.

But if you look at the filesize when viewed 'details' it shows as: 230,722 KB.

I did a test setup on another blank harddisk with a fresh install of Windows XP w/SP1. About 2 days ago.

-E-

About same time as I did...

No one has it working? <_<

Virtualbody1234
10-08-2003, 10:06 PM
Did you notice that the keygen was for Norton Antivirus and not Internet Security? And that only the key included in the .nfo file works and not the generated keys?

I think that all we need is a working keygen for Internet Security 2004.

-E-
10-09-2003, 12:24 AM
Hmm, you know now that you say that....

I won't be deleting the .iso then. Should just be a matter of time before we find a working keygen. Hopefully...

Virtualbody1234
10-09-2003, 12:44 AM
That's exactly my thinking. That's why I still have the .iso too. :)

I have searched high and low for a keygen. None found yet for NIS2004. :(

If someone has one or finds one please post about it. Thanks

Is it Norton Internet Security 2004 ?

What's the exact filename and filesize ?

Where did you get it from ?

01478520
10-09-2003, 03:52 AM
yes and 60.5 mb imesh

Virtualbody1234
10-09-2003, 04:03 AM
Again, what is the exact filename ?

And that sounds too small a file for Norton Internet Security 2004. It sounds more like Norton Antivirus. Are you sure?

-E-
10-09-2003, 05:01 AM
That's too small, even if it's a rip.

Come on peeps...Norton makes more then just the one proggie.

NIS = Norton Internet Security
NAV = The proggie this thread is not about

Virtualbody1234
10-09-2003, 05:47 AM
Yeah and it funny how he came along and just said "i have no probs wit mine" and nothing else. I then asked him to give an exact filename and then he doesn't. He only gave partial information even after I asked, then disappears.

So f**ken helpful.

wow loads a posts since i posted, sorry, damn why cant i check more?
anyway, i got NIS from suprnova:
Norton Internet Security 2004.iso
225 MB (236.259.328 bytes)

*i found a trick that works:
-when you start your computer quickly press right click on the internet security icon in the system tray and press enable. your internet security now works as you wil start to get all sorts of prompts.
-you can also click settings in the antivirus menu that pops up when you right click anticirus ico.

-thats the only things usefull you can basicly use. your now protected but no liveupdate.

-dont open in any case the NIS with an icon of any sort or in the popup menu when you right click it --- or NIS closes

-after, you should take 30sec max --- never ever go with your mouse over the icons in the system tray --- or NIS closes

*i think the 1 cd-key (that seems to be the only one that works) is bad and symantec already knows about. maybe its because quite a few times this cd-key should have been used for installation (liveupdate confirming subscription)

*just keep your iso and wait for a keygen or crack, thats what i think
find anything better or better nfo then post plz

*The CRACK folder in the NIS iso is basicly the KEYGEN folder drom the NAV prof 2004 - pretty lame release if you ask me

The mouse pointer going over the icon in the systray is not what makes it close down....it's already closed by then.

I got this of suprnova and did a fresh install in being that this was the first Norton Product I installed on my operating system...I then installed Norton Anti-Virus Pro 2004 followed by Norton SystemWorks Pro 2003 and lastly Norton Ghost 2003...All work fine and I can access the Live-Update no problem..I read somewhere else that the live update interferes with existing installations of Nortons Live Update on your computer

Edit: I also got Live-update to the year 2116

Dude, NIS is a internet proggie...why are you pointing out that it doesn't work when the internet is on?

It doesn't work because of the serial.

Virtualbody1234

NAV2004 and NIS2004 both will shutdown when internet is on
By NIS are you referring to the firewall (blue globe icon) ?

And yes they both shutdown, even if you don't connect to the internet. Just wait a while and you will see that they just shutdown.

It doesn't work because of the serial.
Correct! That's why I keep asking people to look for a keygen. I've been looking but I thought that if we worked as a team it could go faster.

The Norton website will give those results even if you aren't running any firewalls or antivirus proggies. I'm running Corporate...I'm sure VB is running something.

None of this has to do with finding a keygen....or if someone got NIS 2004 to work properly....hence the title of the thread.

Virtualbody1234

Good point -E-

I do have something running.

In fact, I setup a test install on another harddrive just for NIS2004. I always do it that way with untested software. That way my main setup stays intact. Once I have fully tested something I then put it into service. I then burn it to CD and add it to my shared folder. :)

No, we have a cdkey and the keygen for Antivirus 2004. We have done the phone challenge and it accepts it but it doesn't work. After reboot the taskbar icons disappear and you cannot use it.
