Some jumped up bell end called Catalystic promptly demoted me to VIP because I issued the warning, (even though I was SUPPOSED to warn, according to the site-owners rules).

Good riddance, – the ‘elite’ top level staff were nothing but a bunch of power hungry butt munchers if you ask me.

Yesterday (8 July) members of a criminal network involved in a multi-million pound film piracy 'industry' have been found guilty at Southwark Crown Court.These guys were sentenced a few months ago, they snitched out their DVD suppliers and got a reduced sentence.

According to our sources a senior member of staff experienced legal issues following allegations of selling counterfeit DVDs which led to a search of his home address.He had scene access so he could easily provide dvds and make some money. They caught him redhanded though, his computer and everything.

It says that a couple of staffers were arrested and I suppose that's before the site went down. Maybe one of them was caught off guard and he probably had all the info in his hard drive.

All these staffers that were arrested will have to go through a great deal of temptation when being asked to snitch in order to get a lighter punishment.. I truly hope their hard drives didn't have any proof which can incriminate them.

Yesterday (8 July) members of a criminal network involved in a multi-million pound film piracy 'industry' have been found guilty at Southwark Crown Court.
The gang knowingly provided a 'one stop shop' supply service for other criminal gangs producing and selling counterfeit DVDs in London and the South East, with international links.
Those convicted are remanded - some in custody and some on bail - to be sentenced on 28 July.
At approx 11.30 on 13 June 2006, officers from the Metropolitan Police Service's Film Piracy Unit and Territorial Support Group entered residential and business premises in North Chingford, Harlow and Walthamstow at which ten persons were arrested. Utilising intelligence from a number of sources including FACT (Federation Against Copyright Theft), IFPI (International Federation of Phonographic Industries) and Waltham Forest Trading Standards, the Film Piracy Unit was able to target this highly successful criminal network.
The operation, codenamed 'Donets', began in the early part of 2006 following an interception of a parcel by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) at Stansted Airport. The parcel was addressed to Rafi Sheikh and contained a Toyota car catalogue which had ten silver metal discs hidden in the pages. The discs were believed to be metal pre-masters utilised by industrial DVD replication machinery. HMRC handed the parcel over to FACT, which with the assistance of IFPI, was able to confirm that each disk was in fact a 'stamper' or original master copy.
As the 'stamper' could only be used to duplicate film imprinted upon it this indicted the presence in the UK of an industrial replication plant, the first time such a rogue plant had been identified in Western Europe. FACT contacted the Film Piracy Unit at the MPS which began an extensive surveillance operation at the home and various business addresses connected to the directors and family associates of the company, Samrana Ltd.
The Samrana warehouse in Harlow was the main supplier, sustaining the production of counterfeit film product on a very large scale by criminal networks in London and the South East. The directors of Samrana Ltd and other family members were able to conduct their criminal enterprise under the cover of a company conducting legitimate business.
The location of the industrial replication machinery was traced to a counterfeiting factory situated in industrial premises in Walthamstow and is now physically located in Vietnam having been exported from the UK via Hong Kong by the principles of Samrana following the seizure of the 'stampers'.
Sami and Rafi Ashgar-Sheikh were directors of Samrana Ltd and had used money from their father Khalid Ashgar-Sheikh to start the business in 2003. Through its criminal activities the 'business' had grown substantially within a short period of time and the suspects were able to purchase the industrial premises in Harlow for a substantial sum in 2005 injecting substantial sums of cash, believed to be the proceeds of this criminality. Other members of the family were involved in the day-to-day operation of the business
Standing trial with the principles of Samrana was Xin Li, an illegal entrant to the UK who acted as a quartermaster/organizer for one of the criminal networks who worked closely with Samrana. He stated that he and his wife paid £20,000 each to come illegally into the UK from China. As he was educated and able to speak English he became responsible for orchestrating/organising the workforce and illegal 'factories' operated by a Chinese based organised crime group in the UK.
Vast sums of money were realized by both Samrana and the group organized by Xin Li, much of which left the UK. An investigation aimed at tracing and confiscating these criminal assets is now continuing. At the time of the searches £106,000 in cash was located hidden in various locations throughout the home occupied by the Sheikh family and a further £24,000 recovered from the bedroom occupied by Xin Li and his wife.
The organized crime groups they were supplying use a workforce of largely illegal Chinese immigrants who had been trafficked into the UK for this purpose. They were housed in 'factories' which ranged from industrial units to terraced houses. These factories were generally short term lets where the illegal immigrants worked and lived around the clock in conditions of 'virtual slavery'.
The technology utilised by these groups was very different from that described previously and was based around a 'burning' technology, similar to that available on any home computer but in character more akin to an industrial production line. It was this 'industry' that required the vast amounts of raw materials, such as discs, burner towers and specialist disc printers that were required in the production of the counterfeit materials. It was these 'factories' that supplied the many street sellers, many of whom are of Chinese origin, who can be found selling counterfeit film product (both mainstream film and unregulated pornography) on the streets of any UK city.
The factories are capable of producing hundreds of thousands of illegal copies per week of popular movies, with hundreds of different titles being copied. They are also highly active in the illegal distribution of unregulated pornographic material, including some content that would never be licensed in the UK. These pornographic DVDs are sold on the streets alongside the mainstream movie titles.
Detective Superintendent Russell Day, Film Piracy Unit, Met Police, said:
"Today's verdict is the result of three years hard work and investigation into the activity of an extensive criminal network. Their crimes not only had an impact on the major motion picture houses but also the consumers and in particular the vulnerable Chinese people who became victims of the 'slave labourforce.' Film piracy is not a victimless crime and it is crucial that the public ask themselves if they want to play a part in the exploitation of vulnerable people by buying illegal DVD's. "

You wouldn't, because:

1. You are not allowed to offer invites in this section. You'll have to wait until you get access to the giveaway section.

2. I'm pretty sure the similar tracker doesn't want invites to be offered here.

You can fill requests after 30 days in private though. Just be aware that there will be a lot of people wo claim to be former UK-T members. Only invite people you really remember.

This site is open to sign-up for anyone, even those with nothing better to do than insult people just for the sake of it, so you need a bit of a thick skin to enjoy FST. On the plus side this site has a wide variety of members with often completely opposing views and opinions and this leads to plenty of interesting threads.
I've learnt a lot from people on this site, you just need to ignore the numpties. It's not always easy to do and I've stopped using FST a few times, only to come back to it a few months later.

I must admit, the bitching we receive here from the IQ0s makes me think about participating in FST, I was possibly spoilt by UKT but the reception here (by the few)spoils the site for me. the same people seem to troll in the other sections of FST as well.
On UKT, we took the p1ss out of each other but with humour and no animosity or offence taken. I know each site has its share of idiots but UKT weeded them out.

Maybe a few people on this thread missing the point, if you are ex **-T then you would probably know someone there?

Being known is going to based on weather you were an "active member" on the site as opposed to a "lurker" ie if you made friends.

The temptation is for people to pretend in order to get around this. If you know someone from there do what I'm doing and try and get in touch to find out whats going on, if you don't then you wont be alone but unfortunately theres nothing to be done about that.

I've been an UK-T member for as long as I can remember. From right back when ET went down. I'm sad to see it go, but I allways say that for every site that goes down, 10 new ones will come to replace it.
Some say the site was crap, but I have to disagree. Especially the last couple of months the quality really went up. Everything I needed was available there.
I don't expect anyone to even remember me. I wasn't a big poster and I think I only joined the IRC channel once. I just downloaded what I wanted and seeded the hell out of it. I loved my 'ultimate seeder' status :D.
I wanna thank everyone who made it all possible. Especially the posters and seeders.

Damn... I just relaised... No Christmas draw this year... And I was so hoping on finally winning something.

I wasn't a member of UK-T... had no inclination to find an invite OR enquire about how to join... but I don't see the need to be so full of joy that a torrent community died...

Actually when you and I "donated" we "bought" x amount of time on the games server - a completely legal way of contributing to an dodgy enterprise. Ukt staff may have flushed the site logs but they don't control Paypal payment records for example.

Be thankful that like some other sites like TB the staff have the foresight/"paranoia" to protect their contributors this way, instead of worrying where a few quid went....

FST functions slightly differently compared to torrent site communities in the sense that members here are given the freedom to express their opinions without fearing a warning/ban(one of the reasons why I personally like this place so much). Their opinions may be hostile/non-hostile, depending on how you perceive them to be.
If you wish to abandon this forum then by all means do so,but if you think that all members here are gonna concur with your line of thinking then you may feel disappointed.

Personally, I'd advice you to stick around and take a deeper look at the forum,this really is the mecca of the BT world and there's a wealth of information to be explored. The experience would be rewarding(it was for me anyway).
At the end of the day,the choice is yours,goodluck.;)

I'd just like to start by thanking FST for helping out. I would also like to ask all ex UKTer's to be respectful to the site, without them many of us(you) would be still stood there with your thumb up your arse due to the unfortunate (and unconfirmed http://sc.webmessenger.msn.com/10.1.0323.0/session/images/emoticons/smile_teeth.gif) circumstances in which the site went down.

Regardless of a few people who seemed to want to laugh as us and slag the site/staff off (some of which was not totally without cause - even if they didn't know the facts), most of the guys here have been supportive and helpful and I would like to focus on that point.

I hope a few new members stick around and use the site, although I never posted here I often lurked around, good to keep us with the gossip.

So to finish this post of appreciation I would just like to say a big Thank You to everyone here. You guys rock and helped make this thread EPIC.

EDIT - just read the last couple of pages and realised this thread and the few thank you's above are well needed.

I was on a few trackers before I got an invite from a friend to, as you call it u*-*.
In the beginning it was a quite slow place, I didn't use the tracker nor the forum much, the ratio was hard to keep up if you didn't catch the torrent among the first. After a while things got better and I stopped use other places since I got what I wanted and it was enough people on that you could keep a decent ratio even if you didn't catch the torrent as soon as it came up, I started using the forum a bit and got to know a few people on there...

Things just worked.. it was enough people on, good seeders and leechers, no problems with hit'n run, not so strange that the admins thought it was enough people on, I know there was a few invites around from time to time, so I know it wasn't comletely closed for others. I had 3 invites and I thought long before I gave one to a friend, you know.. if my invitees are crap seeders, it reflects back on me.

I enjoyed my stay for 4 years or so when one day it was gone..
I hadn't really looked at other trackers for a while, I had a good one(and some others I also used, but less). When it was gone... I felt naked and didn't have access to what I was used to.
I think many of us have a simular story.

To be honest, I thought most private trackers were simular to u*-*, it was a chock to see I was wrong.

So apparantly I am an elitist and should be hung by mobs from other trackers that are different.

As for asking for tracker invites, if your mates had been fortunate enough by the good grace and consideration of others to be let in to some place or haven that offers a new roof over their heads similar to what had been lost, wether that was in R/L or on the net wouldnt you prefer to meet up with them if you could? :yup:

Wow, I didn't check this thread for a few days and it looks like WWIII has started.

I've been reading a fair few threads around here and have contributed to some. I've noticed that some threads are a little light in traffic (such as TV shows and sports) but hey, its fun getting to know a new place and I'll still be around.
