Memory Not Working - Help!

Hi Guys/Gals

I have a 512MB 133Mhz CAS3 memory stick taken out of one of our HP LH3 servers at work (due to it being upgraded).

I have put it into one of our desktop systems (which I built myself ie: non branded) but the system powers up and I receive 3 beeps from the Ami Bios.

I know the board supports 133mhz Cas3 because the system contains a 128MB chip.

Is the memory bad or can you not use server/HP memory in a non branded system?

Any help appreciated!

Well I checked my M/B on the Crucial memory checker and it came back with this in regard to my m/b

yep, looks like you'll need to get some non-ecc ram for your desktop if you want more...

Damn! I was hopeing it would work! never mind tho :(

Could I upgrade the BIOS? or is it impossible to change how the m/b supports RAM?

Nope. ECC is hardware compatibility.

Think It will be cheaper for me to get a new M/B which supports ECC ram!
