What's going on?
"Currently Active Users (http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/online.php): 1346 (399 members and 947 guests)"
This is the highest I've seen in at least a year! And It just happened suddenly today.

Did my optimizing FST for search engines pay off, (Doubtful, I just did it 2 days ago ) or are we getting traffic from some new source today? Did a tracker close down?

I think your optimising did pay off. Try googling 'UKT' . That site seems to have closed, causing all the members to google for a reason.

That's my guess.

EDIT: Check viewing figures for this thread. http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/f-bittorrent-43/t-what-happend-uk-t-374142

Interesting though how no matter how you google, fst presents the most relevant result to what's being discussed on that thread.

Actually it's Google presenting the result.
Unless I misunderstood your post.

There have been a few NZB sites down too, one migrating servers, since yesterday, so some could be flocking to the "free NZBs" while this other site finishes migrating, that is if at least half that high activity is going to that section.

There's 24 people viewing that thread now, that you guys mentioned.

SOL, there are 174 viewing the Newsgroups section right now. Not sure what thread(s) though... This total does not include the NZB Index (though it does count the nzb forums)
The NZB index currently has 120 viewing.

These are all time highs for these two sections I believe. :D

BitTorrent on the other hand, with over 300 viewing right now, has been over 1000 viewers before.

Yeah a few members were waiting on Dexter last night and some other shows and RuS was down so they came here.....and been up and down all day...and I think word of mouth has caught the NZB part and more people migrating to Usenet to.

You must be proud, Tesco!

Seriously, the UK-T thread is prolly the reason.

The ex-wheels thread is obviously the reason. It's fun for me at least

And a question for the ones that have been here longer

Most users ever online was 3,132, 12-19-06
Anyone remember what happened that day?

A tracker closed down...

Seriously.
But we were actually busier around that time.
That mixed with yahoo search spiders crawling the site from 2000 different IPs every 15 minutes.

We're homeless right now... FST is the only place offering us shelter & food. Who knows? Perhaps we'll like the place and stay around a little bit longer.

Hello by the way :)

It's even higher right now:

Currently Active Users: 1507 (501 members and 1006 guests)

Just looking at the block of users on the the bottom of the forum home page says a lot. I haven't seen a list that long in some time I guess that says that people are registering and not just browsing as guests? Seeing as in just the past couple of weeks Scenetorrents, FTWR, UK-T, Zamunda, Mininova, TPB, comicreleech, (and some others I can't recall) have all chosen to either close their sites or have been forced to take them down.

Zamunda didn't have to close down - they're just having international routing issues :)

Well, perhaps it's extended down time is causing it's users to explore other avenues anyhow.

once I checked and there were almost 300 people watching the "sct closing" thread.
Now it's the spam " I'm a refugee of ScT, please invite me to a leet tracker". *sigh*
