OK well in short I have a $150 gift card from bestbuy and I was looking around on their site for a new toy. I have ordered some new Water cooling stuff from performance-pcs.com ( they're awesome BTW) and will be re-doing my rig in the coming weeks. I have always liked the way the 1200 looked and I have to say that the Antec 900 is my favorite case before I was turned on to the Tj07, still I get bored pretty easily and I think i want to get the Antec 1200, has anyone used this case for a WC rig at all? Looks roomy and has some cool features.

Did you specify that this time you wanted watercooling parts that would actually hold water?

lol, I did in fact. I'm going to update my other thread on exactly what parts I have now. Whaddya think Clock should I stay with the TJ or try out this new case? $150 in best buy is burning a hole in my pocket all day.

I understand the "new case" fever although I'm not currently possessed by it.

Seems to me though that you're taking a step down going to the Antec.
It's big, it's black and it's boxy...so really, not all that different from what you currently have.

Would $150 buy you a nice SSD at Best Buy?

Hmmmm a good idea. The only one they have ATM is :

PNY - 64GB Interna SSD (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/PNY+-+64GB+Internal+Serial+ATA+Solid+State+Hard+Drive/9129052.p?id=1218029789301&skuId=9129052&st=solid%20state&cp=1&lp=1) for $169.99

Meh, I'm unsure. I was however looking at dropping some cash for this one a few weeks ago though.

Kingston SSDNow (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139005) 128 GB for $283

Meh i dunno I have to look around more. Maybe the tittle of the thread should be what should I spend a $150 best buy gift card on?

Yea honestly a case is just that, a case. I don't really see the appeal in buying a new fangled case that is far bigger and fancier than I will ever need (although you probably have more expertise in this than I do). I feel like its more of a "if it aint broke, don't fix it". Kinda like a mouse or keyboard, why replace it if you already have one?

Although what you want to spend the card on depends on your specs I guess.

I love the skeleton case too, but I also love my 3 kids under 5yrs old and I'd hate to murder one of em for grabbing something out of there.

I decided to go for the Corsair Obsidian 800D. I'm working on it now and will have pics up in my other thread (http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/f-hardware-24/t-water-cooled-setup-309501) tomorrow.

Good choice.

The antec one doesn't look very good. All the blue led fans and the large gauge mesh really put me off.

And I'm wondering how well it keeps the dust out. I know the mesh in my chassis lets a fair bit in.

Of course, the better a case is at keeping out dust, the better it is at keeping out air...not necessarily a good thing.

In my experience, the diagrams that manufacturers claim show airflow through a case are pure fantasy and an aircooled setup only works with large unrestricted openings and fans as close to the hot components as possible.
The inevitable result is going to be dust intrusion and it's best to just sack up and deal.

I suppose.

I'd like to think filters or at least a finer mesh'd be better, though.

I can't believe how much dust was in my case when I got it stripped down. The Obsidian comes with a filter on the bottom but I ordered a few of these (http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=25552) for what will be the top intake/rad fans. I plan on updating the worklog thread today with pice. Basically I've been sleeving, and sleeving......and sleeving.

I was just thinking that if you had two kids you might have more important stuff to worry bout than an upgrade to your 'puter case. Personally I'm not even close to having kids but I could never justify buying myself a computer case at full price, especially if I already have one that adequately suffices. I can suggest purchasing a WD tv, but you probably already have one already . . .

Yes I do have a WDTV and a WDTV Live, but what relevance does that have to getting a new computer case? The fact is I do quite well money wise especially right now when the economy isn't doing so hot. I usually only work 8-10 months out of a year and still bring home over 100k. My 3 children are WELL taken care of, spoiled even and for you to imply otherwise I find extremely rude especially as you don't know me. Since you don't have any children of your own it's pretty clear you are simply talking out of your ass.

Ur right, I was talking out of my as a bit there, no offense intended. It's just that I'm not much of a pc building enthusiast, and I'm also very strict with my spending.

I brought up the UWTV because you mentioned this

good to know that you're doing well btw, not everyone is as well off right now, so for a lot of people a new computer case is not the wisest purchase

Of course it's not...even in the best of times a fancy case is a whimsy, not a requirement.
Then again, if we all stuck to what was only strictly necessary, this section- and every PC forum on the net- would be an endless parade of cardboard boxes with box fans propped next to them.
The entire blue LED light industry would collapse, thousands of Chinese workers would be laid off and the cable sleeving industry would cease to exist.

Oh, the humanity!

I've got an antec 1200, personally I think its a fabulous case.

The 3 fans at the front all have removable dust filters behind the meshing, despite it sucking a hell of a lot of air through and despite my house being extremely dusty (cats, regrettably heavy smoker) the insides remain far more free from dust than previous cases I've owned.

The style might not be to everyone's taste, and the thing is as big as a small tank (and probably as heavy), but it does a wonderful job at keeping some very hot components (4870x2, heavily overclocked cpu etc) very cool. Its very well designed imho, extremely easy to work in.

One of the uk pc mags did a thermal imaging test on loads of cases a few months back and it ranked as the best of the lot.

Well personally, my favorite air cooled case is the Antec 900, so I imagined the 1200 to be just as good if not better. I just love corsair as a company and had to get the Obsidian 800d for some of the features and the brand.
