I don't know when it's started, as I've been away for about a year but a lot of the stuff I've had recently has been passworded. Then they link to a website where I have to complete a survey in order to obtain the password. This has p[issed me right off, especially when I download something that is quite large in size.

Why has this started happening and is there somewhere where people give the password on a sub-forum or something so I don't have to do these stupid offers.

A few people will say to download the first rar, check if it passworded and then download the rest. Personally I think that's a hassle, but it is a solution. You could either use nzbmatrix who don't list passworded files, or newzbin who list them but mark them as been passworded and usually put the password up too if it's known.

Even NZBMatrix does that, they remove it quickly, we do to when we see...for all the people who critize us over password stuff remember we do this for free and for fun. If we checked every single file, do you know how much time that would take?

You only need to download the last rar and see if there is another rar inside.

EG...this user "fatfuck" if you see that poster, it's passworded...and tons of webistes now have turned to passwording their shit.
