Only 23% of what.cd users are using Windows7. I'd guess alot of the hdbits users voted 7 on the poll because they plan on using it in the future, cause that's a big percentage difference. I haven't upgraded because I'm lazy, but next reformat I'm gonna roll back my laptop to XP, and upgrade to Win7 on my desktop.

I'm probably going to switch to 7 in the future, but right now I'm waiting for a modded version. There's Tiny7 Rev01 but I want something based on the final, not the RTM :P

what is most unbelievable is 12% only for vista.... i mean ... vista has the best performance HANDS DOWN right now ... its far better than XP and is better than win7 cause the drivers and whatnot just are up to snuff for win7

sure in the future win7 will take the lead but that wont happen for a while... i dont see how 50% can be running win7 already i just cant accept that... 12% for vista no WAY

It's a known fact that people don't always tell the truth on polls. They did a survey and something like 18% said they gave untrue responses to polls.

Btw I'm pretty sure tha 63 % of people won't get what I just did there but 100% of me don't care .

You are joking right? As much as I liked Vista there is no way it out performs W7.

50% of statistics can be used to prove 80% of claims 95% of the time.

On topic Windows 7 is much better than Vista overall, though you're right about the driver issues I'm having some trouble with that at the moment.

Office PC using XP
HTPC using Win7 Ultimate
Netbook using Win7 Ultimate
Bedroom using Vista Ultimate

The poll results could be skewed by people with multiple computers. However, I will be switching to Win7 on all machines once I get some ambition. Other than a couple of times I have had to look for things in the menus and control panel, I have had nothing but smooth sailing.

Sad but true server 2000 is the most stable windows ever made by Microsoft....

Because people on HDBits care about having the best quality ... everything, including operating systems.

Totti,

There are lots of reliable versions out there. Look for a reputable private site and grab a version that a lot of people have grabbed and few people are bitching about. Many don't even require manual entering of the key.

BIE has released the latest December integration in the past 24 hours. They are known for being reliable. Also, make sure you get the x64 or x86 version that you need.

Also, it is against most site rules to ask for CD keys, keygens, etc... :ermm:

Ok, time for a small showoff :smoke:

Office PCs:
Workstations - 3x Ubuntu Workstation x86 (old PIII 700mhz with 512mb RAM and 80GB HDD used mainly for openPYME stuff) running fast as the wind.
Servers: Ubuntu Server Edition X86 (running Apache+mysql+php and other services) and another server running an AsteriskNOW installation
Home:
Netbook: ubuntu 9.10 netbook remix
GF: Windows XP SP3
Desktop (my main rig): Windows 7 x64
File Server: Windows Server 2k3 R2
Parent's Home:
Sister: Windows Vista Home Premium X86
Father: Windows 7 x64

Yes, I installed all those and I do their maintenance too. (RDC and VNC ftw)
My overall conclusion: for my gaming and PnP needs, nothing beats Win7.
For servers, though I haven't had yet much contact with Server 2k8, both win2k3 and ubuntu server are rock solid. It's just a matter how one gets used to each permissions handling.
For aging computers or netbooks, with limited HDD space and performance, ubuntu all the way. Without blinking. I used to think XP was the shit for netbooks, but man was I wrong.

I don't like to think I'm biased towards microsoft. But I reckon their Win7 is the most user friendly OS I've ever laid my hands upon. Still too many unnecessary stuff comes installed by default, I say. Nothing that a good vlite tutorial and a bit of patience won't solve.

I did. It missed too many networking components I needed, as for example the RDC client and server, and a few others I can't recall now.
As for stripped down OSes, than I could go for Archlinux for example.

Don't take me wrong, I loved XP. But it's a completely aged OS with an archaic architecture, specially the way the services use svchost and so on.
When I see people saying: XP is still the best, I can only

Of course we don't. Every tracker's members use different Operating systems. Doubt that 1 tracker has all it's members using win7 as their OS.

I like Windows7. Was using Vista but I did not like vista at all. Win7 does not seem that much different except for looks, some features.

There is alot of factors that play into this.

First off hdbits is for members crazy about hd content, and windows 7 looks more appealing than xp.

I personally run on windows 7 because i run a 64 bit system. Windows xp 64 bit has 0 compatibility, vista 64bit (I don't even need an explanation), so windows 7 is obvious choice.

Its definitely the way of the future.

I have a 1080p TV, cool
I watch bluray movies, cool
I have a looking good car, cool
I have a ps3, cool
I have a pc with i7 processor,cool
and no doubt i am using win 7 coooooooool
heh, im stick with xp what's difference with vista and win7 they develop something magical over vista? no just good marketting and everybody loves ca$h...(target of win7 not upgrade to vista to win7 just take down xp users)
Well if you want to use win7 most likely you need a new pc and this is just vicious circle....
Why do you think computer companies dont sell pc without windows os?(well some of them selling with free-dos and ubuntu but these are really %1 of marketting and really shit quality of pc)
heh if you gonna buy a laptop you need to order for os too think about im not a windows user and want to buy a new laptop and most likely i need to pay that shit load of money only for that agreement...
Well windows will come onto the market with a new operation systems that required more power to work(more ram, more processor speed etc) ppl start to use 6 gb ram with win7. Well, i never reach or need over than 1 GB ram, if you're a home user who need really that 6GB ram modules? but companies need to sell new and expensive hardwares...

anyway , people generally loves whatever new , that's why they turned to 7, just for being new -IMO.
