I think we all have some favorites; I know I have a bunch.

Here is one which is, some might say, typical of me, although I attribute it to William F. Buckley, Jr.:

A society that seduces the conscience by sweet reason is one thing, but ours is developing into a society that harpoons the conscience and tows it right into the maws of the mother vessel, there to be macerated and stuffed into a faceless can."

How about some others? I have many more....... ;)

Indeed

"It doesn't matter who you vote for, the government always gets in" is a favourite of mine.

A close second is

"Whoever said change is inevitable doesn't use our office vending machine"

I think the first is Gramsci and I suspect the latter is Dilbert.

Yes, I usually find that after the first flush of enthusiasm it is a law that kicks in with monotonous regularity.

As I discern the avoidance of moral judgement to be a main thrust in criminal matters these days, this one is near and dear to me 'eart:

The greatest punishment is to be despised by your neighbors, the world, and the members of your family." Edgar Watson Howe

On the other hand, I believe it was Adam West who said, To the Bat Cave, Robin!! :D

It's not in the same field but this little tit-bit from Churchill I find very amusing!

Lady Astor: "Winston, if I were your wife I'd put poison in your coffee."
Winston: "Nancy, if I were your husband I'd drink it."
This exchange is sometimes attributed to Winston's good friend F.E. Smith, but in Consuelo Vanderbilt Balsan's The Glitter and the Gold she writes that the exchange occurred at Blenheim when her son was host. See also the American edition of Martin Gilbert's In Search of Churchill (not in the British edition). In Nancy: The Life of Lady Astor, Christopher Sykes confirms Consuelo Balsan's account. "It sounds like an invention but is well authenticated. [Churchill] and the Astors were staying with Churchill's cousin, the Duke of Marlborough, at Blenheim Palace. Nancy and Churchill argued ferociously throughout the weekend."

Again, OT here, but I recall (dimly) another Churchillian anecdote:

Society Maven: "Why, Sir Winston-YOU ARE DRUNK!"

Churchill: "And you, Madam, are ugly, but in the morning, I shall be sober!
