Do usenet providers allow multiple IPs addresses to connect at the same time when downloading from newsgroups? I'm thinking about getting an unlimited plan from astraweb or maybe a block account and using it at home and at work at the same time.

no, astraweb will *not* allow multiple ip's at the same time.
only block accounts will allow that.

Astraweb no. There are others that offer like xlned and newsdemon.

it depends what you mean by 'at the same time'. when you are actually downloading, then no. But if you just mean you want to share the account between 2 ips, then yes. You can swap back and forth.

Yeah I agree with c0ld, I use it with 2 IP's but not at the same time, If i do use it at the same time, The address i registered gets presidence.

Block accounts at most providers I know of (Usenet-news.net, Blocknews.net, Astraweb.com) allow simultaneous sharing.

From the Astraweb site:

Can we connect from more than 1 IP address?

We limit access to 1 IP address per account at any one time for Unlimited use accounts. This is to discourage account sharing.

If you would like to connect from more than 1 IP address at the same time, we recommend you purchase our Pay by Download plans.

If you need an unlimited account, most Dutch usenet providers (Eweka, XSnews, Hitnews/Xennews, etc) allow account sharing from multiple IP addresses at the same time.

When sharing is allowed, the account's number of connections must be split between users.

That's good to hear that you can split connections and download at the same time. Do you still get max speeds? Can anyone confirm that using 10 connections on one IP and 10 connections on the other IP work for Astraweb or Supernews unlimited plan?

I use newshosting.com, it has never been an issue with me, and you don't have to split connections, it works just fine on both ends.

I also use unlimited Newshosting for around 3 years and I had received a warning e-mail from Newshosting about simultaneously downloading from both different IPs about one year ago.Since then, I didn't try 2 IPs at the same time.

I guess I got lucky then. I've shared an account with multiple people for several years though.
