Could probably be a codec problem.
Do you happen to have CoreAVC as your preferred decoder in your applications?

ye i have coreavc and its version 1.9
as i said its only been happening with some recent films

The Invention of Lying 2009 MERRY XMAS 720p BluRay x264-METiS (http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/f-movie-nzbs-80/t-the-invention-of-lying-2009-merry-xmas-720p-bluray-x264-metis-385140/) http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/clear.gif
like this one for example

Some new released x264 films used new x264 parameters which can cause pixel problems in CoreAVC.
I also encountered this problem in at least 3 films.
Try to use another decoder such as ffdshow which can solve this problem.

Or just get Coreavc new release(version 2.0). All problems are solved

Where are you playing the movie from? An external drive??

Whats your video card specs and model?

Hardware could easily be the cause of this problem. I have this problem when I run movies off a usb 500gb external, also on some low end machines that support 1080p can have some blur issues.

Most likely as mentioned its a codec error (needing updated) or actually a problem with the rip.

Ya,I had try the new CoreAVC 2.0 and it seemed solving this problem in some x264 films I tested.

i too was having the same problem with my movies (all r 1080p)

1.The Final Destination
2.Surrogates
3.Moon
4.The Tournament
5.This Is It

wat i did was re-encoded the, myself :01:

wot i got was reduced sizes (better to archive)

and best of all no pixelation at all...:whistling

If you were having the same problem with all 1080p movies then either your computer is not capable of palying hd or your setup is wrong
You re-encoded from the source (BD) or from the mkv?
Either way there is a big loss in quality.

Ok What Is Your Problem Now With HD Movies..?
It Just Needs To Good Codecs Like windows.7.codec.pack.v2.3
Or You Can Get The Best codec from: codecgide.com

STOP using codec packs! imo use MPCHC. it has everything u need and plays HD movies perfectly.

imo use MPCHC.

I started using that some days ago after someone informed me the vanilla MPC hasn't been updated for years. Looks like a nice app.

Regarding the codecs, that isn't always true. Disabling the player's filters so that CoreAVC could do the job almost halved the CPU usage when playing HD material.

It's nothing to do with Codecs (do not install Codec packs it's a waste)....It's the actually release groups, example download something from -eBP or something and there encodes are shit, samething from the group called -CROSSBOW....it's them compressing it as much as possible to fit on a DVD9 or DVD5, going by scene rules....if you don't like it, you need to look for P2P groups rips that are going to be well above DVD9 size....I repeat it has nothing to do with codecs, but I've been told the best way to watch them is with MPC.
