im using alt.binz and have a file i need to download ... it doesnt have an nzb - all i have is the "Poster", "Group" and "File name" ...

ive been googling for an hour and have come up with nothing ... on the plus side - i have learned how to upload files from my pc to usenet :01:

see this is why i love :fst: - they make stuff so much easier for the users ...

Why not use a search engine and find the file and "click "create" nzb"???

Look at the screenshot above, notice how all of the items are highlighted?

Without a nzb, you have to download each attachment individually.

Can you highlight them and download all of them at once? I don't know... I never used that program... but in theory, you should be able to.

That's what HEADERS are for; depending on how 'good' your newsreader is, it may have built-in tools to search, collect, and 'pack-up' headers into nzb's for you, and/or allow you to simply select 'manually' (oh, the HORROR! :w00t:) either from a 'raw' list or from (hopefully) a 'filtered' list, like the the 'filename' or whatever.

I use the 'collect up into an auto-nzb' all the time, when I think that the nzb (like from newsbin) is a bit wanky, and use Binsearch to 'double-check' if things look a bit odd as well.

The ability to generate your own nzb from a collection of selected headers, and A/B that selection against headers at/on a major sews-server (the search server is AT the server plant), is what separates the 'boys from the men' in news-readers.

thanks for the reply ...

i checked out the screenshot - my problem was - the site i was on only gave me the poster, group, and filename ... i didnt know how to load that information into alt.binz ... i played with the program for a few minutes but couldnt figure out how to sucessfully search for the group ... it would be nice to know how to load it in manually but until then i can search for the filenames on those sites ...

appreciate the quick reply beck!

Those sites link to search engines anyway, just take the file name and search :)

Newsleecher in Supersearch lets you search by poster/group/etc...also it will download hearders, just click leach...I don't use altbinz enough to know so I couldn't comment on that.
