Has anyone noticed that a more & more video files are now password protected. Once you put the initial .rar files together, they form ANOTHER large .rar file (instead of the normal video file). In order to open it, it requires some password. To get the password, they try to make you go to some bulls&#t survey website. Is there any way of getting around/cracking these password protected files? If so, how?

Yah I have and it pisses me off. Eff them I delete it and grab something else. Adblock wont even let me view their site so I wont go there.

Yea, I do the same thing; delete them and move on to get another one that is hopefully not protected. In the beginning it was even more annoying cause I would waste bandwidth getting all the .rar files only to discover that it is password protected.

Just a suggestion to others and a way I have sort of gotten around wasting download bandwidth is to download the first few .rars. Try to assemble it & if they initially start to put together another .RAR, you know its a stupid password protected file. Therefore not having to go any further and don't have waste bandwidth trying to download the rest.

I was just hoping someone here knew of a way to crack these password protected .RAR files. I almost wonder if they are even truly a video file of some sort to begin with. But rather a bogus file altogether & just use a popular name that will hopefully attract some to people to their BS website.

One way I have discovered to sort of be able to get around this problem is to use a nzb search engine at www.nzbclub.com (http://www.nzbclub.com) . When you do a search, they have a "lock" symbol next to those files that are password protected. When I see that symbol, I avoid it, move on and look for another nzb to get. Just a suggestion.

You can use RAR Unlocker, RAR Password Cracker, etc...etc...

All you have to do is grab first rar and double click it, and if you see this--------------> * next the filename it means it's passworded.
