When I type in regedit in run it just says that it's been disabled by the administrator, but my account is the administator:angry:

I can't changed it with gpedit.msc as well because that seems to have disappeared:angry:

I got a virus this morning and it's infectecting my files in system32. I did the malwaresbytes scan this morning and it found loads of infections but it needs access to the registry but I'm locked out of it

Is there any other way of changing the access rights?

I'm using windows XP

Download Lavasoft's RegHance, look for "DisableRegistryTools" and delete it, or set it to 0.

*Run Trojan Remover, after scanning with an AV like NAV,ESET or Kaspersky.TR will remove any registry restrictions :)

I've done this idea but it still says Admin has disabled it

Am I suppose to restart my computer first

Then the malware is probably resident in memory and has disabled Regedit once again. Try this:
