Was reading an argument about TheBox that said they now have site and/or uploader watermarks on some of its torrents to prevent people "stealing their uploads" (yes, irony). From reading about this on another site it seems a lot of people really dont like watermarks. These watermarks are not extremely intrusive but are reminiscent of public tracker uploader watermarks at the start or at points during the file. There is some sort of scene group blacklisting as well. Need someone who still uses this site to tell us more.

Dont know how this figures into the rankings but it is something to think about.

I'd like to know more about it, too. The .torrent file could be generated with a special code unique to each user, but most people aren't going to upload the metadata... and the files can't be modified since that'd change the info_hash. Unless it's a generic "this stuff is from thebox.bz, if you got this elsewhere they're a bunch of idiots" (I was thinking of something traceable to an individual account).

I am assuming some sort of "this file is property of uploader X at thebox, if you got this elsewhere they're a bunch of idiots" appears at the start or during the video as well but dont really know.

I found it hard to seed on their site, i got banned pretty quickly even though i was trying to seed. this was a few years ago so mabe they are better now.

An excellent tracker - hated it to begin with but now it's one of my favourite.

They should probably be moved to the R.I.P. category now, as although the site is still active, they've dropped their torrenting and now are simply a set of forums. Sad. I loved that site.
