:huh: can anyone help me? ive tried everything to connect my laptop and desktop pcs the wireless connection between them is great trouble is i cant share anything on either of them there both on xp pro ive done the network wizards many times on them both but still nothing ive set them to ad hoc and they are connecting with each other but they wont share please help :blink:

won&#39;t share what?

r they on the same workgroup? can u c 1 another in network places? can they ping each other?

they wont share anything printer,files,internet.
i ran network dianostics and all passed

first of all, don&#39;t use that crap - secondly, don&#39;t use the stupid network wizards. if u want it done right, do it manually. :)

drop to a command prompt on both machines and type ipconfig /all - this will tell u the ip address of each machine.

after that - r they at least on the same subnet? what is their DHCP servers IP?

my laptop has a host name and conection and a network connection 2
my desktop has the host and my internet connection

well now i hafta go back 2 werk fer another 4 hours - r the ip&#39;s on a 192.x.x.x subnet or somethin else? if on the 192.x.x.x - okay 2 show us, those r private ip&#39;s.

yes i disabled wep in wireless network properties on both computers worked for a while then lost my connection then wep enabled its self so disabled again and rebooted but it keeps enabling again.if i disable and dont reboot it works fine for a while please help

what the hell is "wep"?

it&#39;s kinda funny we&#39;re discussing this - i just setup a wireless LAN w/wireless printers and everthing this afternoon - so very cool&#33;

but i still don&#39;t know what a "wep" is

WEP STANDS FOR WIRED EQIVILENT PRIVACY ITS SOMTHING TO DO WITH DATA ENCRYPTION. SORRY I TOOK SO LONG TO ANSWER WAS AT WORK

as u shouldn&#39;t - a WLAN is easy as friggin pie - i&#39;m scared cuz i&#39;m a IT consultant, and this shiznit is so easy it&#39;s gonna put me outta buisness soon&#33; :(
