I`m lucky enough never to have had to use AOL so could somebody please fill me in on the joke and tell me why they`re so bad?! Thanks

One thing makes me laugh about a few people here concerning AOL - A lot of people hate AOL, but a lot of the same people use Winamp (which is affiliated with AOL)

Cheers for telling me about QCD, Lamsey boy ;)

NP - keep spreading the word. It's too good a media player to keep secret :)

No, they're useful. Very useful.

I love the stands they put up with them. One of the guys at my local Woolworths actually put a "Free Coasters" sign on it.

I've got about a dozen of them - they really do make good coasters http://www.mcbriens.net/liam/img/smilies/beer.gif

I saved 5 different AOL disks and framed them like musicians do when their album makes it big. I included a fake CD cover with pictures of the head of the company, the head of advertising, and a few other people that I figuared had to do with their excessive pollution.

I printed out a little tiny gold plate that said:

AOL : Quadruple Platinum

It hung on my wall for a little over a year...then the joke got old so I framed something else.

yep AOL are shit. AOL had decided it is no longer taking emails from me to my brother and this is what i got back:

([email protected]): host mailin-02.mx.aol.com[64.12.xxx.xx1] refused to talk
to me: 554-(RLY:B1) The information presently available to AOL indicates
this 554-server is generating high volumes of member complaints from AOL's
554-member base. Based on AOL's Unsolicited Bulk E-mail policy at
554-http://www.aol.com/info/bulkemail.html AOL may not accept further
554-e-mail transactions from this server or domain. For more information,
554 please visit http://postmaster.info.aol.com.

Seem somewhat heavy handed to you?

I'll drink to that :beerchug:

Especially with the MMD3 skin - IMO it's better than the Winamp3 version

Interesting attitude.
How did you manage to muster up hatred for a product you've never used?

I am on AOL.
They are crappy, I admit it.

Still, it pisses me off when people talk about "stupid AOL users", etc.

Don't you get it?
Right now AOL is my only option! for a high speed connection. It's AOL or dial-up.
Soon ( they are only 5 months behind now) Comcast will activate their cable system in my area. I am already on the list.

Please don't make the assumption that a person is a AOL suscriber out of choice.

Besides, saying you hate AOL is akin to all the kneejerk, cheapshots I read about Microsoft. Saying "I hate AOL!" and "I hate Bill Gates" is kiddyshit, IMO.

maybe hate was a strong word - how about strong disliking for?

If you read my post earlier you will see that they have inadvaertently barred mr from sending emails to any AOL users - because someone who happens to use the same server as me has been sending spam.

That is a heavyhanded, knee jerk reaction and that is what i dont like about them.

Maybe there's a difference between AOL in North-America and the one in Europe (different approach, other regulations/laws etc)
