hi

ive just installed motherboard monitor 5 and have got so far as getting 2 numbers in my taskbar

one is black and says 32 the other is red and say s 75 (which cant be good) now ive been to the website and read the help files and i know my board is supported but i dunno what number represents what

ive got a bog standard pc with a fan on top of the cpu and i think theres one at the part were you connect the pc to the electrics(brain freeze: cant think wat that bits called :D )

so any ideas how i find out what the numbers are showing me the temps off

there might not be a sensor for the cpu fan

actually, those readings don't look real. ur comp would stop working before it even reaches 70. turn off ur comp and open ur case, and lightly put ur finger on the heatsink of ur cpu. if it's burning hot, then the cpu is at 75, if not, then the readings wrong

the max die temp on most current cpu's is 80+ centigrade...

edit: the duron 1.1GHz cpu's i've found have a max die temp of either 90 or 95 degrees centigrade

hi guys
sorry bout the time taken to reply but i went out and turned the pc of however ive turned it back on at 8.00am and after 3 hours it went straight up to 75.5 so i took the side panels of and it is slowly going down, im at 62 centigrade at the moment .will i be okay to leave the panels of cos the pc shop is shut 2day im just worried about all the dust and crap goin into the tower

cheers

oh by the way all the pc is doin is d\l of bittorent and norton av and firewall so why should it go so high <_<

edit: Abu_Has_the_power said check the temp by touching the heatsink now sorry for being stupid but is that the metal bit around my cpu or is it the fan on top of the metal bit (i had a friend who did everything for me but unfortunatly have since lost him so im having to learn for myself cos the prat never left a pc guide to me in his will :D and i dont wanna have to pay computer shop repair prices)

This is a heatsink (without a fan).

Yours will probably look somewhat different, but you get the idea.

Touch this to see if it's really hot....

ahh i see yeh pretty much similar to mine only that and the fan on top are full of dust so maybe that is why its so hot i iwll try and clean it

does the fan come of by itself leaving the heatsink in place i dont dare try it and knacker it up even more

cheers for that pic m8

Yes just unscrew those 4 screws & clean both the fan & heatsink.

ive gave it a good clean and that really helped but i'm leaving both side panels of for a bit cos that leaves it at about 52 centigrade which is the lowest it seems to want to go

i will look into the things you have said cos i ain't got a clue what they are at the moment

cheers guys all i find on google seems to b gibberish :D
