lol, actually according to IRC convo's, it was Q, CG, and Tvip who wanted to do this, the way I read it. Unfortunately, now that it's been posted here on FST, I think they're going to close it up again. I heard that they're also seeing lots of duplicate accounts signing up and are flagging them all to be banned over the next few days if they make multiple accounts. Also, they;ve said that people who had a previous account which was disabled for any reason are being instantly banned. If they see too many of these multiple accounts, it will probably be the LAST time they do an open signup

one piece of advice for anybody taking advantage of their open signups, read their extensive FAQ and the forums. the "10 commandments for new users" in their forums are particularly relevant. If you are lucky you might have a friend who wants to invite you :) We just wanna see how much cheaters will start respecting their accounts after they realize they cant just come back in a get another one >:). no free leech, but for christmas new year they've always done double UL and 1/2 DL on all torrents. meaning if you DL and seed a 350mb torrent to 1:1, only 175mb of DL shows up, and 700mb of UL appears.

also, for noobs, they don't enforce ratio requirements until you've DL'd 2gb.

it's funny seeing the cheaters already getting caught. one new guy reported UL'ing hundreds of gb about 5 minutes after he joined. they said they already nailed a few dozen people opening multiple accounts, too.


as for open reg's being a good or bad thing, 5 hours of open doors every 4 years isn't exactly opening the floodgates.
