Before anyone can answer your question, you have to tell us what your budget is. Depending on your budget, you will get several different answers.

www.buyabs.com, www.buyxg.com, and www.ibuypower.com which was said. I've bought from ABS and I was pleased with the computer.

Is it really possible to put "gaming computer" and "cheap" in the same sentence without embarassment?

yea man all the way. great place. amazing prices. now, thing is. u wanna know a lot about a computer's anatomy. like parts. cuz sometimes they might try to fool u with giving u something that looks and runs the same as the 1 u ordered, but costs less. and chances r u'll get single channel for ur dual channel memory. no prob, just take out the one in the 2nd slot (counting from the left) and put it in the 3rd slot. but they make great computers at great prices. check out student special a:
http://www.ibuypower.com/confirm/configurator-special-a.htm

fuck, they have free shipping now? fuck, i had to pay 80 for 3day air. damn it. arg arg and arg again. and they told me the deal will be over soon. arg...

anyways, it's a great deal. very overclockable. their policy is that as long as the parts don't burn out, the warranty is still in place. they have a very nice rating on resellerratings.com

check it out. my comp from them is great. running perfectly fine, good temps. but they sell their psu's a bit expensive. check out the 500 watt 1 on dealsonic.com. that's the 1 i have now.

good luck

OMG!! they increased their rates a bit. my comp now would be 673, but i paid 646. so i'm happy. still a great deal if u don't feel like building one

You save some money on a few things, but the basic graphics card they give you is a MX 400, which is bottom of the line of things that are actually still being made today.

Just build it yourself.

I think he was looking for places to buy PC's cheap not to build them himself. ABS may be a tad more expensive them some others but their new ones are looking nicer and nicer. I think some kid on my floor bought from Ibuypower and hasn't had any problems.

Seriously, build it yourself. OR buy all the components from newegg.com and pay someone at a local shop to assemble it (probably cost 20 dollars at most). Watch them while they assemble it and you just got a $20 lesson in computer assembly.

I didn't find abs to be all that expensive. not compared to dell or gateway, at least.

Schuler

I didnt find ABS expensive compared to mainstream either but it might be more than ibuypower.com. If you know someone who would assemble a computer for you, that would be a good option too.

WTF? i've used cyberpowerinc.com 4 bout a year and this ibuypower.com looks exactly like the same site, same puters 4 sale, just a different name on em!

WEIRD!

oh yeah, if u like 2 waste time or want 2 learn more about pc's build ur own. u'd prolly only save (MAYBE SAVE - maybe spend more) a few bucks. :)

Depending on where you live a good alternative might be finding a good local computer shop and having them build a PC for you.
You can realize the benefits of doing it yourself without the hassles of shipping.
Plus, if you have a problem you have a local source of repair/advice to turn to.

i used 2 work 4 a local computer company - our puters were total rip offs - as i assume r most small vendors.

we used name brand parts and all, but they were way 2 over priced.

true, that if u buy from local vendor, u can hopefully get some free advice/repair. if it wasn't warranty, we charged $75 bucks an hour 4 home users - :D

Maybe we aren't talking about the same sort of shop, Kurt.

My shop is a three man operation and their main business comes from dealing with software problems and replacing dead HDDs and the like.

They will assemble a machine for you as well.

I think the trick is to find people who are willing to be honest with you and are more willing to listen to your needs/wants/drivel (in my case) than racking up big sales on stuff they think is overrated or useless. Yes, they have biases, but they freely admit them and can explain what they are based on.
When I assembled my first machine in August I had a terrible time getting my video card to work. Even though I hadn't purchased it from them, they spent several hours trying to set it up for me and didn't charge me a cent.
Now I always check them first when looking for something and if they can't be competitive they say so, no hard feelings.

I'm just lucky, I guess.

we hated customers like u - <_<

i ALWAYS had people callin me askin me how 2 setup a network, instead of just paying me 2 come out and do it 4 them. i don't mind spending maybe 15 - 20 mins, but anything more needs 2 b PAID 4!

u r lucky, but i think that deep down they hate u - :D

p.s. - our office employed bout 8 people, 4 of which actually worked on puters & networks.

I was more than willing, and offered, to pay.

They would not accept.

I suspect that most people hate me.

It's the price I pay for having a generously sized member.

My son built a games computer when he was 12, he's 15 now, and has just built his new one. Do it yourself, it's easy.
