my boss just gave me a CD full of files to install QB on my laptop....instructions say to use keygen for the serial number to install....I have no idea what i'm supposed to do...

Look for the aforementioned keygen in the CD.

Unless I'm mistaken your boss is instructing you to commit a crime .I'd advise you seek other employment.
