I had a problem with my DVD player, it just didn't read anny
DVD, or CD's annymore.

So, I bought a new DVD Player, but after installing the driver for it, I noticed that the new DVD player also doesn't read anny dvd's or cd's.

I formatted my computer and reinstalled windows XP Prof.

But still it did't read anny cd's or dvd's.

I also have a DVD Writer, but that one works fine!!!
And i did do the master slave thing with my dvd player and writer

But It just doesn't work. Please help me I don't know what to do!!!!

Does this mean that it was working, but suddenly stopped? If so can you remember doing anything (hardware or software changes) shortly before it stopped working?

Also:
Are you sure you have the latest driver? (check manufacturers website)
In device manager (control panel -> system -> hardware) what icon does the drive have next to it?
What is the name of the drive.

Go right to the beginning, and tell us if your BIOS finds the drive.

Whoaw, thnx for all your quick responces!!!

First of all, I have got the latest driver, and the device is according to the "device manager" working properly.

When I look at my BIOS settings,
I see that the secundary master is the DVD player
and the secundary slave is the DVD writer.

Also when I look at my computer i see the DVD Player, but when I put in a DVD/CD it doesn't do annything.

I bought the DVD Device from someone who took it out its computer, a packerd bell, maybe that is a reason???

But of that is sow why does my one and the packerd bell device doesn't work???

I reinstalled windows sow that could not be the problem.... <_<

there are differant regions out there for DVD's and if you change the setting (region)in your DVD player (on your comp) more then 4 times i think it is, the DVD player will not work on any comp(there may be a way around it i have never researched it)

The player won't even play CDs so it's not a region problem.

It sounds to me that the unit is defective. Is it still under warranty?

If you're interested in making your DVD player region free

http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php

I flashed firmware once and it worked fine.

BE WARNED THO, FLASH WITH HACKED FIRMWARE AT YOUR OWN RISK

What do you mean won't do anything can you see files on it !!!
If so by putting a movie in won't always make it go to your software player in mine I have to change the drive for it to find the movie on the "other" drive.I have H as default G as to be put in could this be it.

Regions only affect DVD movies, data disks will play in any DVD player.

I have formatted my computer again, and reinstalled windows xp again...

and when i finished the dvd player worked. But as soon as i installed Easy CD/DVD creator and norton anti virus 2004, it stoped working.

Is it possible that one of these two programs has annything to do with the failure of my DVD player????

and if so, can it be passed???

my guess (cause I don't really know for sure) would be to un-install ez cd Creator, its a crappy program to begin with, and could be causing the conflict, if nothing else you get rid of a crappy app :)
use nero for you burning pleasure
and if after the un-install of EZCD it still doesn't work uninstall Norton

Most likely there is some sort of incompatibillity with Easy CD/DVD creator. Perhaps there is some solution at the Roxio site. What brand and model of DVD player is it ?

By the way, I won't say it's a crappy app. I will just say that computers sometimes act strangely when all these different hardwares and softwares are used together. Most of the time there is a solution.

Not looking for the solution is what I would call crappy.
