Meaning Of 'R5' & 'R1' ?

i know this probably sounds stupid but can someone tell me what 'R5'line" or 'R1' means, its in a few titles DVD-R movies etc, i looked around for ages on the forums, but couldnt find any thing.

R5's as you see are Russia (as well as other places) but due to the high piracy rate in Russia, R5 discs are usually released before the other regions, this is why you will see R5's upped before regular DVD releases and are not of high quality as regular DVD releases.

China has their own region, amazing. Or maybe not. It must be the country with higher rate of piracy on the planet.

The major difference between the two is more likely to be the audio. The R5 originaly had Russian audio, possiby others as well. This is stripped off and replaced more often than not with English LINE audio.

Also i would like to add :
R5 ripped movies are dvdrips with cam audio
R1 movies are normal dvdrips .
R5 Dvds won't work on R1 DVD players and vice versa .

the problems with r5 is that they're sometimes first released in "antipirate" versions - only with russian audio, usually 2 channel ac3 and in dvd5 size only...
