View Full Version : Tmpgenc Converted No Audio
I have converted some 2 cd files (2 avi files) movies with tmpgenc (the best tool they all say)
like pirates of carribean, and 25th hour
and the new created mpg files were all silent, though the video is fine
nothing goes wrong when I convert single file movies
and I never touch any settings
so I assume it's the 2 avi movies' problem
can anyone solve this problem for me?
please :o
Just extract the audio using virtualdub by going file>open video file then audio>full processing mode then file>save wav. Once done then get a program named Headache (make sure u get all plugins) then load the .wav set the destination to .mp2 and then set it to the quality u want by cliking options twice then let that go then finally u get a program named bbmpeg then u go to start encoding load your vs stream (that's the .m1v or m2v file) then the as stream 1 (the .mp2 u just made) then go to program and set it to whatever u made .m1v is VCD and .mp2 is SVCD then once done with that hit start. and when that finishes u will have a .mpg.
Also, next time use Tmpgenc to encode and put it on System (Audio+Video)
er, like I said at the start
I didnt touch any settings at all
so the System (Audio+Video) always remains System (Audio+Video)
I have no problem with other single file movies
anyway I thank you for the reply
just one question...
is there any easy way?

Yes mate, theres no need to extract the audio .Just goto file>envionmental settings>vfapi plugins and increase the directshow to the top of the list.If still the same increase it a little more. And it should read every file without probs.
If he doesn't have any audio then he needs to extract it from the .avi regardless of vpafi (spelling)

yep these settings should convert everthing just fine, he should remove all the bad frames first with divxrepaire
http://divxrepair.sourceforge.net/
then when finished he need to adjust his setting to match these, don't worrie about any you don't have

I had the same problem as YXUZ!
And i used the settings that Muchspl2 recommends but i still had no sound for x-men 2 .Avi converting it to .MPEg 2?????????????
I read somewhere that you have to extract the audio with Virtual dub and turn it into an .Ac3 file then convert that with Headac3he! But i have'nt converted it yet to tell whether this worked!

never had a problem, but have done gre1's way a few times making kvcd's
does x2 play normally as a avi?
edit:
its in the second kvcd method, same concept instead of headache it uses besweet (little faster the headache)

Any Chance of letting us into your secret formula ;) for setting up TMPGEnc correctly so we don't have to extract audio from any film regardless of what audio it has?

What secret mate??
For one it could be the combination of codecs you have install and the actual codecs you're using. What are you using?.And what ac3 support are you using a filter or codec. :D
All I can say is just make sure it has system(video + audio) ticked because I don't have any problems but since u say it might be in the settings but i never touch em.

Yeah no worries but you shouldnt have problems with tmpeg if its set up correctly and dont install unneeded filters and codecs which do cause problems. All the directshow vfpi etc are really is just access points for tmpeg to read your files and codecs. So if you have the codecs installed and you can watch the movie in windows, tmpg should read them the same,,as if u was watching the movie with windows media player. If you have no audio or tmp says unsupported, its obvious its not reading properly or getting to the codecs. If you have a fiddle and set it up so it can read the codecs the same as windows media player you wont have anymore problems.A few other settings you could change if you like, i think improves quality quite a bit on (s)vcd.Set the gop to 1.4.2 and max gop on 15 for pal 18 for ntsc and the vbr buffer size always on 0,auto.The qualities much better than tmps defaults imo.
The only codecs i have installed is
offical divx 5 codec +keygen
xvid codec 3/5/03
ac3 codec i havent got a link anymore but i'll post it some where.
a few odd codecs from the kazaa lite codec pack.

I said don't worrie about the ones you DON"T have
did you try those settings? should load up anything ac3/xvid anything?
That's because the audio is AC3 and u have to use besweetgui (u can download it just do yahoo search) to convert to Wav and then to .mp2.

yes I follow exactly the things I have to your picture
still converted no audio
and when I tried to extract audio from the original avi
using virtualdub
that (above mentioned) error message appears
like I said before
there is no problem with audio and video when watching though
I just told u what to do download Besweet and Besweetgui and do it there are instructions on http://dvdrhelp.com. U get that error because the audio is AC3 and VirtualDub can't decompress it so just do this in VirtualDub: Go to audio>direct stream copy then file>save wav and when done change the .wav extension to .ac3 and then use besweet as I said.

try virtualdub-mod, it accepts everything

yeah I tried it
but cant find the extract audio function
Obvisously u are not trying to get any audio cause u would have done what I just told u.
ok I used besweetgui to convert
but it tells me that I lack some .log file
whats wrong?
The log should come up when it get done if it doesn't I think it's ok just go to were u converted your .mp2
Try Goldwave to extract audio.
Most ac3 will decode in vdub( theres plenty out there). But i find that the ones with unknown tag (AUDIO).
Found in vdub - File information.
I have to use Goldwave and you can also maximise the volume.
Note . Gspot shows i have the right codecs for the AVI,s but still have to rip audio first.
Man, just use Besweet and do a .wav to .mp2 conversion with no hassle.
