Kickball was "invented" spontaneously by random groups of grade-school-aged children who, in a gesture of precocious solidarity, refused to throw the ball anymore, and instead began kicking it. ;)

i think its in human nature to kick things, just about anyone can claim to have invented it - though, the earliest recording in history of a ball being kicked for sport was in China, but, Association Football was invented by the English
