Hey, I'm looking for the name of this website (Site X):

http://gizmodo.com/5475006/the-secret-world-of-private-bittorrent-trackers

Havn't been involved in torrenting for awhile now and thus I don't know. Looking to get back in.

Thanks for the info. I've lost most of the trackers I used to frequent from inactivity but passing a "test" to get in ain't for me. I've got better things to do.

The "test" is nothing more than common knowledge if you wish to share some of your collection with everyone else on there, and trust me, you will have to. It's impossible to survive at What.CD without uploading rips yourself; which this test readies you for by explaining basic codecs/formats, ripping, and checking the rip's quality.

Than I guess What.CD is not for me. I simply wish to download songs and leave my PC till I eventually seed it all back. Waffles maybe than?

If you just want to casually download songs and not have to have ratio worries, than both Waffles and What are both definitely not what you're looking for, it's extremely difficult to manage a ratio at both sites, especially without previous experience. Demonoid, SoulSeek, Rapidshare, and possibly public torrents would all be better options. Music files don't that particularly long to download anyway, so you don't really need the absolute best speeds.

Then again if you're really set on one or the other What.cd does have a system it place where your minimum required ratio will be lowered to a certain extent with continued seeding, so in that regard it would still be more ratio friendly than Waffles.

90% of what you are looking on waffles/what, you can easily get at places like warez-bb for example. They may just not have all the different quality settings as you get at those sites, but for the casual downloader, it suits you pretty well.

I was looking at the stats on Waffles and you would think that someone with 13.81 GB upload and 510.06 GB download would be disabled but they are not. They are not even seeding a single torrent and it makes me wonder if Waffles actually does ban you for low ratio.

I think Waffles would be a lot easier to keep a good ratio on due to the points system and staff events, and more freeleech periods.

Don't forget Torrents.ru a.k.a. Rutracker.org.

quote from the link:

Thankfully, Google is much better than any torrent site for downloading music.

it amazes me how people talk about what they don't really know with such confidence hehe
