Hi at the moment i use outlook express for downloading all my emails from hotmail, bigpond and gmail. What i want now is a program that does the same but when downloading will sort them into there own directory instead of all being in together. Is there a simple program that does that.

Outlook does it (not outlook express).
Try Mozilla's thunderbird, it also has that option and it's freeware.

On linux, I use evolution, also with such a feature.

I've been using Thunderbird 3, and I really like it. There are lots of solid improvements from v2 [tabs, layout, address book].

I have 3 different accounts and it splits your inbox, drafts, sent, trash, and folders into each account. You can also view incoming mail for all accounts in one inbox if you want.

If you are using Microsoft office, I think it's better if you use office outlook. If you need to support more, I think Thunderbird is best for you

linky: claws mail windows port (http://www.claws-mail.org/win32/gpg4win-light-2.0.2-svn1332-colin.exe)
i think they all do what you want though.

Sylpheed

It's very lightweight. If you don't need too many features, it works great.
