1. MSN Messenger won't work without Windows Messenger
2. If u delete/rename Windows Messenger, don't be surprised if Windows bring it back
3. Some MS software may require/need either/or MSN-WIN meseenger

this is just one of the wayes to "shoot" the messenger

close internet explorer, MS outlook/Outlook Express and exit out of messenger.
-Now type the following into a run line:

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

just encase anyone wants the info for that foreseeable problem

This will prevent a long delay when opening Outlook Express if you have the Contacts pane enabled. To prevent this, click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express

Right click in the right pane and select New, Dword value. Give it the name Hide Messenger

Double click this new entry and set the value to 2.

I was simply replying to that post, didn't know ur intent of the topic was "How to". As for what I said, IT WILL COME BACK IN SOME COMPUTERS, DEPENDING ON SOME SETTINGS.

One of which is Outlook Express, another is NAV.

the tip given by muschspl2 is one portion and will cause a long delay when opening OExp if you have contacts pane enabled, the other portion to complete it is:
open regedit and goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express
right click in the right pane and select New, Dword value
name it "Hide Messenger", without the dqoute, double click this new entry and set the value to 2
now if u have NAV, then u need to disable "windows instant messenger" in setting

like muschspl2 said "this is one tip", there are many available and if one didn't work for u, then there is always another. :)
