View Full Version : I Need Scandals

Skweeky

Ok, listen up. I need scandals, real big scandals everyone knows about, and I need a lot of them.

Next week is the initation rite of out studentsclub, and our theme this year is scandals. We need to write a few sketches.

So far I have:

-Clinton/Lewinsky
-Kennedy/Monroe
-The Dutch soccerteam and that raped girl
-Hugh Grant and the hooker

Anyone got any more ideas?

I need to know by tomorrow and I'm running out of inspiration. I got a lot of things about the english royal family, but that's not well known enough in Belgium...

Actually he is the Dwight D. Eisenhower Professor of International Affairs and Professor of Economics and International Affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and the Economics Department at Princeton University.

He is a British citizen, and previously taught at Cambridge University and at the University of Bristol. He is also a corresponding Fellow of the British Academy, a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and of the Econometric Society and, in 1978, was the first recipient of the Society's Frisch Medal.

JPaul was talking about Angus Deaton.

The scandal involved Angus Deayton, who was the presenter of a BBC satirical quiz/comedy show until he was caught snorting cocaine with hookers.
The situation got so out-of-hand in the tabloid press that the BBC had to axe him as a face-saving exercise.

Skweeky,

Current Hollywood scandals are so predictable and boring. The players are too common and boorish to be expected to behave any other way.

The scandals of old were far more shocking as the public personii (?) involved really were held to a higher standard, thus, when they fell it was truly sensational.

Remember the utter disbelief when you learned that Rock Hudson was gay?
Or that Sally Fields was an alien?

Those were the days.

The Profumo Affair!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/crime/caseclosed/profumo.shtml

It's got the lot:

Espionage, Russian attaches, political treachery, top-notch Tory politicians.

Sex parties, call girls, secret FBI investigations, lies told in parliament.

The downfall of a cabinet minister, and ultimately the resignation of the British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan.

Welcome to the Profumo Affair.

What more could you want in a scandal? :)
