I have a legal paid for XP Pro Cd.
My friend wants to use it to install XP PRO on his computer.
My verion is registered and I get updates when they come out.
If he installs XP PRO off my cd will it screw me?

Thanks in advance!
Steve

He can do anything....

If he wants the updates he can download them from M$ WEBSITE...

OK thanks!
So, if I want to burn it. Can I? Just a regular CD to CD burn using Nero and give him the copy?

Explain that one to me, Cygnuz-Y. How can he continue to use a regular "legal paid for XP Pro" without activating it?

Isn't there a time limit for how long it can run while not activated?

There is a 30 day activation on the CD. I don't think it would work if he didn't activate it however I don't know exactly what happens. Your best bet is to head over to BitTorrent and go find a copy of XP to download assuming you have broadband, or have your friend find someone to do it for him.

As far as activation goes here (http://home.att.net/~nogoodpig/xpfixfiles/XPFixFiles.zip) is all you need.

..... Click on the step3activate.reg file. This reactivates Windows. .....

Taken from http://home.att.net/~nogoodpig/.

In future you might like to try looking here. (http://www.klboard.ath.cx/index.php?act=Search&f=31) ;) :)

I know all that but I just wanted to hear what Cygnuz-Y had to say.

It's also possible to convert a "Pro" version to be a "Corp" edition.

Was your CD from an "original paid for" Windows XP Pro CD? I think not.

your best bet would be to use eMule & get it here (http://www.sharereactor.com/search.php?search=windows+xp&category=0).

I got that 30 days period activation when I used to use home edition. I am using the pro edition since last one & half years & I didn't get that worning yet.

I think the reason is my one is already activated.

To all you people that keep saying that the Pro version doesn't need to be or is already activated, all I can say is that you have the 'Corp' version.
