this is an odd one - I was happily using a 16bit desktop, then installed the latest Nvidia (gits) Detonator driver and now i can't use I have to use 32bit otherwise all my icons bugger up
i've tried using the old drivers again but its just the same

Maybe system restore would help. (if you have XP).

did you restart the computer after you changed it?

change your settings in Start > Control Panel > Display > Settings > Advanced > Adapter > List All Modes

@Mik3ll - yes
@Sparsely - tried that, same effect
after a lot of fiddling around i've isolated the problem - before installing the new driver i uninstall my current driver, this is when things bugger up
if i install without first uninstalling its fine, but i'm left with the old driver sitting around, and being a freak i hate that <_<

I was wondering why do you want you desktop to be 16bit now, does you computer suck and you need to run it in 16bit or something?

my computer does suck a bit but not that much - I'm just used to everything being bland and low contrast, being a freak see
