so it speeds up your internet bu using the host file.

erm collecting ip addies of sites takes almost no time at all, loading the actual site takes a lot longer.

agnitum outpost does this for me already and you will notice no differnce.

it may actually increase time taken, as if the hosts files gets too bloated it will take ages to look through, especially on 9x systems, 2k based systems can handle it better i think

well, that just busted my bubble... :( ... (thought it looked pretty neat for a second there) but it says it also includes a port scanner and stuff, maybe still worth checkin out...but thanks for info (when i looked at it more closely it only claims a few milliseconds gain on local end, dont think that would be noticable)
oh well....

just a quickie....what would be a bloated file on XP home? i think it was nikita that said she had like 40,000 entries, and no bad side-effects. i've had mine up to around 20,000 and didnt like the results (but there was just a few entries that were the culprits, i think, like the ones blocking yahoo, thats where i get my mail, so of course with those entries i couldnt) i'm still working on my host file to get it to my preference, but how big do you think i can go?
