Wonder if that's what strange blue/white/red star I've been seeing the last few days is.

The Amazing thing about the acitivity at the moment is unknown, The 11 year cycle has gone, It should have peaked in 2001 ~ 2002.
I am a radio operator using hf frequencys, this year has been terrible, due to so much sola acitivity.
normaly i switch on my hf radio and i am in contact all over the globe, but just of late i am lucky enough just to get out of europe.

This image is of the flare... http://www.sunspotcycle.com/images2003/23oct03/cme_c3_med.gif

For up to date images keep an eye on the web.
For those who are interested ..... Latest Images (http://umbra.nascom.nasa.gov/images/latest.html)

These Flares can take out all radio communication, but mainly on the hf section.
We will soon be on factor 100.

A good image nigel123, Not to sure what that one was in 2000, but it look's as big as the flares we are experiencing at the moment.

The biggest flares ever recorded was in April 2001, Named Soho & The x15

There is no known relationship between individual solar flares and weather patterns, the only thing it will hit is Communications, Satellites etc.
Satellites can be protected but due to the weight and cost they ar'nt.
So beware you sky tv viewers.
Which is a good thing as i think sky sucks, and have been ripping people off for the last few years.
But theese are my views against sky, i will not be held responsible for making flares.
