ok, hi! i am new to this forum!
anyways...lets get to business :)

ok!

Sometimes when i d/l a software file (.exe), when the d/l is finished and i click on it, a command prompt box flyes in and out VERY fast! this doesnt happen all the time but sometimes i wait a LOOOOONG time for something to d/l and then that stupid box comes out!!! why does this happen? are there any ways to fix it?
do i need to have DOS on my PC for the file to work?

Thanx! :D

Scan the file if nothing comes up it might just be a fake.

U should just go to Suprnova.org and download the game all of them work. They have everything too.

Try renaming the extension, if the file is 500+ MB try using it as a .bin or .iso.
If they are smaller try .zip or .rar.

After renaming, you can't just double click it (if in fact it is a .bin or a .iso). Just FYI in case you don't know this stuff - .bin and .iso are CD image files, you need to burn them to a CD or use a program to mount them to a virtual drive to be able to read them. A lot of people will rename these to .exe so that they will appear when you search for software.

you need to extract it with winsio or isobuster

i converted it to a bin and isp and opened it with winiso but it said that it is an invalid format page...then i converted it to a zip/rar and it said it was corrupted!

thanx for trying to help me, but...
its not that i am mad i cant play the game...i could d/l it from somewhere else!
its that the problem is occuring on a lot of .exe extensions, that is worrying me!

of course most d/l are runnable, but some arent

has this happened to someone else?
is the file just corrupt, or is there something i can do about it?

Just so you dont get any fakes, first see if the game you want is in the verifieds section on the forum.

Alot of these "exe" are what have been renamed use Winrar it should open them then you can see the files of whatever it is game etc,get Winrar 3.00 and above too this was one problem I had cause my old one kept saying file corrupt.

If you could tell us what the file originally was, it may be easier for us to help.

ok, i got winrar 3.20.
i was abled to open another file in its exe extension! and when i opened it, it was fifa world cup 2002! what the hell? it was supposed to be counter-strike:condition zero! and when i extracted the fifa world cup, it had so many corrupted files!!!

and the other file(jedi.academy) i couldnt even open with......wel anything!
i have come to a conclusion that i should delete this kind of files because they seem to be either fake, or not what the title says. i mean i have found so many games and almost none of the games match their title!!! what the hell?

does someone know how i can stay away from those and download the REAL game?(or whatever software im trying to download)

use verified hashes.

better yet, use eMule. ;)
